The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of rotating machinery, primarily electric motors and related mechanical assemblies. This role utilizes 3D CAD software to create and review designs, support manufacturing processes, and ensure products meet customer, quality, and manufacturability requirements.\nResponsibilities:\nCreate detailed parts and assembly drawings using 3D CAD software, primarily SolidWorks.\nDesign rotating machinery, including electric motors, motor-related components, and higher-level mechanical assemblies.\nFollow ISO design control guidelines throughout the product development process.\nApply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and block tolerance methods to engineering designs.\nReview customer-designed components and assemblies for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements.\nEvaluate subcontractor capabilities to ensure technical requirements can be met for fabricated components.\nDevelop and maintain manufacturing processes and process instructions to support production.\nAssist manufacturing teams with product ramp-up activities and production support.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, prototyping, testing, and validation activities.\nManage projects through all phases, including design, prototype development, scheduling, and final validation.\nProvide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders as required.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with a specialization in mechanical design for rotating machinery.\nMinimum of 5-10 years of experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.\nMinimum of 5-10 years of experience designing rotating machinery, including bearing selection, tolerancing, and mechanical fit requirements.\nKnowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.\nExperience working with thermal and mechanical Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software preferred.\nMachine design experience preferred.\nExperience working in a manufacturing environment supporting mechanical assemblies preferred.\nBasic knowledge of MRP systems, manufacturing systems, and motor manufacturing requirements preferred.\nBasic understanding of customer interactions and customer support processes preferred.\nAdditional professional training in design engineering through universities, standards committees, industry organizations, or CAD software providers preferred.\nWork Environment:\nWorks in both office and manufacturing environments.\nFrequent collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, customers, and cross-functional project teams.\nRequires strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nMust be an effective team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.\nRegular customer interaction is required; therefore, the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally is essential.\nMust be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.\nRequires the ability to establish priorities and maintain project schedules while meeting quality and performance expectations.\nResponsible for complete project ownership, including design, prototype development, scheduling, and final validation activities\nDon't let this opportunity pass you by - APPLY TODAY!\nTo learn more about Allient Inc. visit www.Allient.com\nAllient Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
