The work includes modernizing core platforms, improving resilience, strengthening support models, and ensuring infrastructure can support business growth, security needs, and future innovation.\nThe position is based in Waltham, MA, and follows a hybrid schedule, with three days per week in the office. The Director will manage a team of four direct reports and lead a managed service provider model of approximately 50 onshore and offshore team members.\nThis person will work closely with Emerging Technologies & Engineering, Information Security, Infrastructure Applications, business teams, and strategic service providers. The role has room to improve how services are designed, supported, measured, and run. \nYou’ll support work that matters in a life sciences company, where reliable technology helps teams focus on patients, science, manufacturing, and business growth. \nYou’ll lead a blended model of internal employees and managed service provider resources, with the ability to shape expectations, accountability, and service quality. \nYou’ll work across a global footprint with five facilities in the United States and Ireland, giving the role meaningful scale without losing the ability to make practical changes. \nYou’ll join at a time when infrastructure maturity, cloud operations, resilience, security, and cost discipline all matter. \nYou’ll have a real opportunity to strengthen the infrastructure foundation and leave the environment better than you found it. \nWhat You’ll Own\nInfrastructure strategy, roadmaps, standards, and investment priorities across core platforms and cloud operations. \nEngineering, delivery, lifecycle management, and operational support for compute, virtualization, operating systems, storage, backup, networking, monitoring, patching, and infrastructure tooling. \nModernization efforts that improve reliability, resilience, scalability, security, supportability, and cost discipline. \nThe transition of new platforms and cloud services into sustainable operations, with clear ownership, documentation, monitoring, controls, and support models. \nService reliability, availability, capacity planning, disaster recovery, business continuity, and major incident management. \nVendor, cloud provider, and managed service partner performance, including service commitments, improvement plans, contracts, and governance. \nInfrastructure operating and capital budgets, with a practical focus on spend visibility and cost management. \nSecurity, quality, and compliance expectations for a regulated environment, working closely with the right partners to keep services well controlled. \nInternal and partner teams, with a focus on accountability, strong execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement. \nWhat Success Looks Like\nCore infrastructure services are stable, secure, well documented, and easier to support. \nCloud operations are governed, resilient, cost-aware, and ready for long-term support. \nPlatform roadmaps are clear, funded, and aligned to business, security, and operational priorities. \nVendors and service partners are held to clear expectations, and performance is measurable. \nTeams know what matters most, who owns what, and how decisions get made. \nMajor incidents are reduced through better monitoring, resilience, problem management, and follow-through. \nLeadership Style Expectations\nLeads with ownership, calm urgency, and sound judgment. \nExplains technical topics clearly to business, leadership, and technical teams. \nBuilds trust by being practical, consistent, and easy to work with. \nBalances good governance with the need to keep work moving. \nCreates clear ownership, accountability, and room for the team to raise risks early. \n Experience We’re Looking For\n12 or more years of progressive infrastructure, cloud, and technology operations experience, with meaningful leadership responsibility in enterprise environments. \nStrong background leading infrastructure engineering, solution delivery, cloud operations, and technology operations teams. \nBroad technical depth across compute, virtualization, Windows and Linux platforms, networking, storage, backup and recovery, monitoring, patch management, automation, and cloud operations. \nExperience building infrastructure roadmaps and leading large platform modernization, lifecycle, resiliency, and service improvement efforts. \nExperience managing strategic vendors, cloud providers, managed service providers, and complex global technology environments. \nStrong financial, vendor governance, risk management, and operational leadership skills. \nProven ability to lead change, develop technical talent, influence across teams, and communicate well with senior leaders and business stakeholders. \nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent education and experience. \nPreferred Experience\nExperience in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Healthcare, Manufacturing, or another regulated industry. \nWorking knowledge of GxP, FDA, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, and related security, quality, and compliance expectations. \nExperience supporting business continuity, disaster recovery, audit readiness, or infrastructure services in a regulated global environment. \nThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $196,000 to $218,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, training, knowledge, and experience.
