This role combines hands-on IT Project management with ownership of PMO tools, systems, and governance frameworks. The successful candidate will lead delivery of key initiatives while ensuring that the PMO ecosystem (tools, reporting, governance, and standards) is effective, scalable, and aligned with business needs.\nWorking closely with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization, this individual will drive execution excellence while continuously improving how projects are planned, tracked, governed, and reported.\nThe ideal candidate is both a strong delivery leader and a systems-oriented PMO professional-capable of managing complex initiatives while also owning and evolving the tools and processes that enable portfolio visibility and control.\nAlkermes has recently adopted a hybrid working environment to support and meet the needs of employees and this role will operate in a flexible environment with 60% of time in the office and 40% from home. This position is eligible for the hybrid workplace model, requiring work to be completed onsite at our Waltham, MA office at least 3 days per week. This role is not eligible for fully remote work.\nProject & Program Management\nLead delivery of business and IT initiatives using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies\n\nDefine and manage scope, timelines, milestones, and deliverables\n\nDevelop and maintain integrated project and program plans\n\nDrive cross-functional coordination across business and technical teams\n\nEnsure on-time, on-budget delivery aligned to organizational objectives\n\nProactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and escalation paths\n\nFacilitate decision-making and stakeholder alignment, including executive updates\n\nSupport prioritization across competing initiatives\n\nEnsure appropriate documentation, controls, and governance are in place\n\nConduct post-project reviews and embed continuous improvement practices\n\nPMO Tools, Systems & Governance\nOwn and administer PMO tools and platforms\n\nEnsure data quality, consistency, and integrity across PMO systems\n\nDevelop and maintain standard templates, workflows, and reporting structures\n\nDeliver portfolio-level reporting, dashboards, and executive insights\n\nEstablish and enhance PMO governance frameworks, including stage gates and controls\n\nSupport resource and capacity tracking\n\nIdentify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting and processes\n\nAct as primary point of contact for PMO tools, including issue resolution and enhancements\n\nCoordinate with internal teams and vendors to maintain and improve systems\n\nDeliver training and ongoing support to project teams and stakeholders\n\nContinuously assess and evolve PMO tools and processes\n\nSkills\nStrong project management capability, complemented by excellent communication and leadership skills, and a solid understanding of Project Management and IT technologies and trends; with a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement impactful process and systems improvements\n\nBasic Qualifications:\nEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nCertifications: PMP, PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or similar project management certifications \nAbility to simplify and communicate intricate topics with clarity and precision\n\nFlexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.\n\nStrong team player with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional team.\n\nForward thinking mindset with a passion for leveraging AI to drive business value.\n\nDemonstrated project management skills, with proven track record of leading global, complex and/or strategic projects combined with the ability to execute at tactical project-level activities and tasks.\n\nFamiliarity with best practices for partnering with SaaS and Cloud-based companies for delivery of compliant, robust systems.\n\nAbility to work with different cross-functional stakeholders to establish and ensure a reliable and productive working relationship.\n\nGood written and oral communication skills including capacity to comfortably interface with senior leaders, including executive staff.\n\nStrong negotiation skills and ability to influence.\n\nThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $137,790 to $147,460. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, training, knowledge, and experience.
