Working within the Analytic team, the Data Scientist develops and refines machine learning and AI models, performs entity extraction and enrichment across large and complex datasets, and applies natural language processing techniques to unstructured data to advance the customer's mission objectives. This position supports an active federal contract. Any offer of employment is contingent upon Government approval of the candidate and successful completion of the DEA security clearance process.\nEssential Functions\nDevelop, train, and evaluate custom machine learning and AI models, including both supervised and unsupervised approaches.\nApply natural language processing (NLP) techniques to extract, enrich, and analyze unstructured data.\nImprove and expand existing entity extraction processes, incorporating new entities and models to improve analytic outcomes.\nEvaluate enterprise data holdings and develop models and techniques that enrich data toward mission advantage.\nManipulate, cleanse, and prepare structured and unstructured data for model development and analysis.\nBuild data visualizations that communicate analytic findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nCollaborate within an Agile delivery team, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and continuous delivery.\nConduct model validation for accuracy, stability, and bias detection.\nEstablish model monitoring and retraining to detect performance drift.\nPackage and deploy validated models, including the required APIs and automation pipelines.\nDesign and implement ETL processes to prepare source data for model training.\nDocument model assumptions, data inputs, training parameters, and validation results.\nCompetencies\n3+ years of in-depth experience with at least one analytical or statistical language (for example, Python, R, or SQL).\n2+ years of custom Machine Learning and AI model training, to include supervised and unsupervised methods, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) expertise focused on unstructured data.\n3+ years of experience with SQL database and coding.\n2+ years of experience with data visualization tools.\n2+ years of experience with the ability to manipulate unstructured data.\nExperience working in a fast-paced Agile development environment. \nExperience supporting federal law enforcement or mission-focused data programs is a plus\nSupervisory Responsibility\nNone for this position\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.\nOccasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.\nConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.\nExpresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word. Experience can be considered in lieu of education\nCompensation and Benefits:\nThe expected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00-$153,000.00 per year (annualized hourly rate of pay).
