This role supports the Analytic team in developing machine learning models, preparing and analyzing data, and applying natural language processing to unstructured datasets. It is an excellent opportunity for an emerging data scientist to grow within a high-impact federal mission environment. This position supports an active federal contract. Any offer of employment is contingent upon Government approval of the candidate and successful completion of the DEA security clearance process.\nEssential Functions\nSupport the development, training, and evaluation of machine learning and AI models under the direction of the Analytic Lead and senior data scientists.\nApply NLP techniques to extract and enrich unstructured data.\nAssist in expanding entity extraction by preparing data, testing models, and documenting results.\nCleanse and prepare structured and unstructured data for model development.\nBuild data visualizations that communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.\nCompetencies\n2+ years of experience with an analytical or statistical language such as Python, R, or SQL.\nExposure to machine learning concepts, including model training and evaluation.\nExperience working with structured and unstructured data.\nFamiliarity with data visualization tools.\nAbility to work collaboratively in an Agile development environment.\nSupervisory Responsibility\nNone for this position\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.\nOccasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.\nConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.\nExpresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word. This is a full-time position with flexible hours based on mission requirements.\nTravel\nOccasional CONUS travel may be required for meetings, conferences, or training.\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in data science or a related quantitative field with coursework or project experience in natural language processing or machine learning. Experience can be considered in lieu of education.\nCompensation and Benefits:\nThe expected compensation range for this position is $110,000.00 - $123,000.00 per year (annualized hourly rate of pay).
