We are committed to connecting people to Medora through positive, life-changing experiences.\nSummary/Objective\nThe lifeguard will explain safety rules to guests, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies on showers and proper attire. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, showers, and restrooms. You will maintain pool equipment, monitor and record pool temperatures, and regular cleaning and testing of pools.\nDuties/Responsibilities\nOpen and close the pool each day according to scheduled hours. \nRegularly treat the pool with the correct amount of chemicals. \nClosely monitor activities related to the pool area, identify any safety issues throughout shift. \nDirect swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions. \nClosely monitor weather reports to make sure guests remain safe. \nProvide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services if necessary. \nAble to act quickly and appropriately to secure the safety of guests in the event of an emergency. \nPresent professional appearance and attitude always and maintain a high standard of customer service. \nKnowledge of customer service standards and procedures. \nAble to follow routine verbal and written instructions. \nOrganize and oversee pool parties. \nMaintain a clean pool environment. \nAttend and participate in regular training and department meetings. \nProvide a welcoming environment for all guests. \nAssist in concessions by running the register, preparing food, and maintaining cleanliness of the facility and grounds. \nPerform other related duties as assigned. \nSupervisory Responsibilities -None.\nRequirements\nRequired Skills/Abilities\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills. \nAbility to meet customers’ needs and provide necessary assistance. \nAbility to learn the procedures, rules, and regulations for the facility. \nAbility to master multiple job responsibilities required at the facility. \nAbility to work on weekends and evenings \nAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations \nExcellent time management skills. \nRequired Education and Experience\nAt least 15 years old. \n2+ years’ lifeguard experience preferred. \nCurrent American Red Cross Certification Required or ability to obtain upon hire. \nCurrent CPR / First Aid / AED Certification Required or ability to obtain upon hire. \nWork Environment\nThis position operates in a professional recreational environment. This role continuously requires the employee to work outside in all weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, and wind. Continuously works with others.\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nAbility to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights. \nRequired to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time. \nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
