Summary:

Are you an engineer who thrives on variety, takes pride in technical excellence, and wants a career that fits around your life-not the other way around?

We have an incredible opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Investment Delivery Directorate. Based out of our Snodland, Kent office, you will enjoy a flexible, hybrid working model that allows you to manage your own time between home, the office, and our project sites across the beautiful South East. At South East Water, we don’t just talk about work-life balance and continual professional development (CPD)-we build them directly into our culture.

Supporting a Project Manager, you will take ownership of all technical and engineering aspects of your assigned projects from conception to completion, including a PLC replacement project. You will be the technical anchor-planning, scheduling, and managing tasks to ensure accuracy, safety, and top-tier quality.

Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), you will be expected to travel to any location or site within South East Water’s supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings, defect reviews etc.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards and specifications

  • Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field

  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status

  • Assign responsibilities and support the project team

  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support

  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions

  • Collaborating with stakeholders about their needs and goals for the project

What you'll need

  • A degree, HNC, or HND in an engineering discipline.

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CEng).

  • Proven working experience as a Project Engineer.

  • A solid understanding of PLCs.

  • Experience in a water distribution or similar industrial background.

  • A strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how it's applied to projects.

  • A strong understanding of the various NEC contracts and their application.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

  • A valid UK driving licence.
