This team is responsible for the systems that support Allan Gray’s asset management function. There is plenty of opportunity to learn about the asset management industry and technology.\nWe are looking for a developer with 2+ years of experience to join a team responsible for developing new solutions and supporting the existing systems in a challenging business environment.\nOur web applications follow a microservices approach where the backend services are built primarily of RESTful API’s using .NET Core whilst our frontends are written as ReactJS single page applications.\nOur previous generation of desktop applications were built using WPF and WinForms.\nOur ideal candidate is highly autonomous, detail-oriented, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.\nJob Responsibilities\nInteract with Developers and other stakeholders to understand new requirements.\nOwn and build common applications and libraries that are used by Developers an Institutional IT to deliver on solutions.\nWrite technical specifications and develop new functionality to Allan Gray standards and deadlines.\nParticipate in design and planning sessions.\nUnderstand how our existing systems work, how they fit into the overall architecture, and what they achieve for the business.\nAnalyse issues reported by developers and track down their cause through debugging techniques and discussion with other team members.\nTesting and deploying code changes.\nRequirements\n2+ years' experience in systems design and coding in Microsoft .NET, .NET Core, C#, C++, Java or JavaScript.\nProficiency in a database technology such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.\nKnowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes and testing.\nExperience interacting with business users to understand requirements and manage the implementation of system changes.\nExperience with any of the following would be advantageous:\nMicroservices.\nDocker and Kubernetes.\nMessage queueing technologies (e.g. RabbitMQ).\nEvent driven architecture.\nCloud (preferably AWS).\nKey Attributes\nA positive attitude, willing to learn, shows curiosity.\nAttention to detail and quality.\nWillingness to take initiative and responsibility.\nAbility to meet deadlines and deal with pressure.\nAbility to work effectively as part of a diverse team and cross-train with team members.\nStrong analytical & mathematical skills.\nGood communication.\nEducation\nDegree or diploma in an analytical, quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, business science or
