As a UX intern at Allegion, you will work closely with product managers, software developers, designers, researchers, customer support and success teams, and marketers to assist in researching, designing, and delivering software solutions that matter to our customers and our business. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.\nWhat You Will Do:\nWork with the GSS UX Design and Research team to help conceptualize and develop solutions to user problems.\nSupport the creation of design deliverables and documentation to help gather feedback on design solutions from internal stakeholders and users.\nCollaborate with development teams to understand concept feasibility and support design hand-offs.\nCollaborate with the design ops team to help define, document, and evolve, reasonable UI components that support designed-to-code workflow using tools like Figma, Claude, and GitHub.\nAssist in preparing and executing research activities such as interviews, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and card sorting.\nJoin weekly design and research review meetings to share work and receive feedback.\nEngage with designers, researchers, and customer success teams to stay informed on user needs.\nAttend bimonthly User Experience team demos to learn and contribute.\nGain hands-on experience with new tools, modern technologies, AI tooling & coding agents, and systems thinking to contribute to real-world projects, rapidly prototype, and share insights with teammates. \nDemonstrate initiative and a willingness to take thoughtful risks.\nWhat You Need to Succeed:\n Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. (Required)Strong written and verbal communication skills to help build empathy for users and clearly share research findings. (Required)\nFamiliarity with iterative design processes and basic design deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, and prototypes; portfolio or coursework examples preferred. (Required)\nSome experience or coursework in conducting user research and usability testing. (Required)\nAbility to analyze research data and identify actionable insights. (Required)\nBasic understanding of information architecture and web accessibility principles. (Required)\nComfort with design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Mural, Teams, or Slack. (Required)\nA proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to manage your workload and collaborate effectively. (Required)\nAvailability to work during East Coast business hours.
