What You’ll Do
As a Surgery Technician, you’ll play a key role in preparing, monitoring, and caring for patients throughout the surgical process. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing patients for surgery and providing post-operative care
- Assisting veterinarians with surgical procedures
- Monitoring anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout procedures
- Safely handling and restraining patients using low-stress techniques
- Collecting and processing laboratory samples
- Positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic radiographs
- Administering medications and treatments
- Providing nursing care to hospitalized patients
- Completing accurate surgical notes and medical records
- Reviewing patient histories and communicating important information to the veterinary team
- Communicating treatment plans and continued-care instructions with clients
- Working collaboratively with veterinarians and the hospital team to provide exceptional patient care
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is experienced, dependable, confident, and team-oriented.
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- 2+ years of experience as a Surgery Technician
- Strong hands-on experience with anesthesia monitoring
- Proficiency assisting with surgical procedures
- Knowledge of pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative patient care
- Experience collecting and processing laboratory samples
- Experience positioning patients and obtaining radiographs
- Strong patient-handling and low-stress restraint skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
- Exceptional communication and client-service skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
- A desire to continue learning and developing your technical skills
- The ability to receive and apply constructive feedback
