The intern will work directly with the Head of Data & AI in a small, high-impact team supporting data governance, reporting and analytics, employee enablement, stakeholder coordination, and responsible AI adoption.\nThis hands-on, business-facing role works with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Sales, Management, Data Engineering, and regional or offshore partners to deliver trusted data and actionable insights.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS\nData governance & quality | Maintain the Data Dictionary and Business Glossary; track remediation with Data Owners; conduct quality checks; monitor completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency KPIs; and support governance, privacy, and Data Maturity Framework documentation.\nTesting & validation | Support UAT, regression testing, data validation, and release checks for reports, data products, and system changes. Document results, follow up on defects, and confirm business requirements are met.\nReporting, analytics & Python | Build and maintain Power BI dashboards using DAX and data modelling; deliver recurring reports and ad hoc analysis; and translate business questions into actionable insights. Use Python, including pandas and numpy, to analyse datasets, perform data quality checks, identify trends and anomalies, validate reporting outputs, and support basic automation.\nData empowerment & communication | Support Data & AI training, the newsletter, SharePoint content, SOPs, FAQs, process documentation, and data-literacy materials. Keep the Data Office knowledge repository accurate and accessible.\nStakeholder coordination | Coordinate requests and initiatives with business teams, Data Engineering, and regional or offshore partners. Prepare materials and track actions, risks, dependencies, and decisions for governance forums and management updates.\nAI & automation support | Support use cases through testing, validation, documentation, prompt development, and user feedback. Help assess Power Automate opportunities and maintain AI lifecycle, governance, and compliance documentation.\nREQUIREMENTS\nEducation\nPursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Management, or a related field combining business and data skills.\nRequired technical skills\nPower BI | DAX, data modelling, dashboard development, and interactive visualisation.\nPython | Data analysis, data quality validation, automation, and scripting using pandas and numpy.\nSQL & Excel | Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and querying; strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.\nData governance | Understanding of data quality, metadata, business glossaries, ownership, stewardship, and Data Management principles.\nCore capabilities\nStrong analytical, organisational, written, and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to translate technical findings into business language.\nA proactive, self-driven approach; ability to take ownership and manage multiple priorities collaboratively in a small, cross-functional team.\nAdvantageous\nKnowledge of P&C insurance, Azure data services, enterprise reporting platforms, Power Automate or UiPath, AI/ML, Generative AI tools, PDPA, or GDPR.\nAny AI-future skills e.g., ChatGPT, or CoPilot 365, will be an advantage\nWHAT YOU WILL GAIN\nHands-on experience across data governance, reporting, analytics, AI enablement, and automation in a regulated financial services environment.\nDirect mentorship from the Head of Data & AI and practical experience with Power BI, Python, SQL, Generative AI, and enterprise data platforms.\nBroad exposure to Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Sales, Management, and regional data teams, supporting future careers in analytics, business intelligence, data governance, AI, or consulting.\nAllianz Group is one of the most trusted insurance and asset management companies in the world.
