The Enhanced Protection Services Security Explosives Detection Canine (EDC) Trainer will be responsible for the training of existing and newly hired Explosive Detection Canine Handlers (EDCH) in the assigned region.\nIf assigned, an Explosive Detection Canine will reside with you in your home when not working with you on assignment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nPlan, organize and conduct explosives detection training of active and new EDC canines/handlers\nDevelop and implement training programs related to explosive detection and proper search patterns\nInstruct canines/handlers how to detect explosives odor in an operational environment\nTeach canines/handlers proper search patterns to locate explosives in a multitude of search areas\nConduct repetitive EDC operational training exercises\nSupervise MSA employees to ensure observance to MSA policies, and the adherence to client requirements\nInteract with EDC teams and clients locally, and regionally, in support of MSA contracts\nEnsures compliance with air cargo regulations and training requirements; design and implement internal audit methodologies; update training program to resolve deficiencies\nMaintains proper control of training records and materials\nCompletes training reports of EDC teams\nReport training results and deficiencies to management; provide expert-level recommendations for go forward employment of trainers\nMaintains inventory of training aides stored at training facility\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\nLicensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment\nAbility to obtain licensing form Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)\nMinimum of two (2) years of experience as a detection canine handler and/or trainer\nMinimum two (2) years of supervisory experience\nExperience in management of human resource issues at the supervisor level\nWork experience demonstrating the ability to train in passive response (final response is a sit)\nMust possess one or more of the following:Service in any military branch (including Guard and Reserve)\nLaw enforcement role, with a completed accredited Law Enforcement Academy (Municipal/State/Federal)\nMunicipal or federal correctional officer, including attending a full-time accredited LE/Corrections Academy (must have enforcement responsibilities)\n\nComputer skills and knowledge to use Microsoft Word and Excel programs\nExcellent oral and written communication skills\nKnowledge of the herding breed and sporting breed\nKnowledge of Operant Conditioning and Classical Conditioning\nKnowledge of, and ability to handle, high and low explosives\nPossess basic knowledge of canine health and well being\nPossess adequate living environment to allow for the proper exercise and training of the canine\nHave access to reliable transportation sufficient to allow the safe transportation of the canine to and from work\nWillingness and ability to be available for incident/emergency response duty, standby duty, and client demonstrations, which includes various days and hours (10 to 15% travel is expected)\nMust possess a working smartphone capable of receiving/accepting voice mails, and a computer to enable you to set-up and access MSA Security company email\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nService in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement, security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms) or any support role in a Combat Zone\nPrior civilian or military K9 handler experience\nCompletion of a full military handler course\nBachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies\nA minimum of 8 or more years of service in any military branch\nBENEFITS:\nMedical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance\n401(k) plan, subject to eligibility requirements\nPaid time off offered at an accrual rate of 4.923 hours bi-weekly\nEight paid holidays\nEmployee Assistance Program\nEmployee discounts through our perks program to your favorite restaurants, entertainment venues and much more…\nPay $80K to $82K per year\nClosing\nAllied Universal® is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
