Responsible for the design and/or testing of tooling and equipment and/or planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant.\nResponsibilities:\nAssist in the development of manufacturing systems with the focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of production equipment.\nWork is of a technical nature where decisions are made within general practices and procedures, where supervision is available to handle unusual situations.\nDirect the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.\nStudy product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.\nApply knowledge of product design fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.\nAssure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.\nOccasional instruction, training, and assignment of work to a small group of employees.\nAnalyze process elements for improved manufacturing capability.\nAnalyze equipment deficiencies for manufacturing improvements.\nProvide technical support for specific plant operations.\nPhysical presence in the workplace is an essential function\nImplements and actively supports the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives\nImplement safety and good housekeeping standards\nOther duties as assigned.\nExperience:\nEducation Requirement: Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience\nRequired:High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems.\nEffective oral and written communication skills.\nKnowledge of tooling, manufacturing process, and manufacturing equipment required.\nHigh level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.\nUnderstanding of machine and manufacturing processes.\nExperience in part processing using various grinding, turning, machining center equipment.\nProject management experience with regard to machine procurement, cost analysis, and process validation.\nDirect manufacturing experience with at least one of the following component groups: rotating and reciprocating components, gears, and/or prismatic parts. \nEntry Level - less than 1 year of experience required\n\nPreferred:Experience working with Unigraphics and other CAD programs.\nExperience in gear/spline manufacturing, gear geometry, analytical gear evaluation\nCNC programming experience with a thorough knowledge of machine control systems.\n\nAllison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
