You will lead a multitude of product development initiatives, from a test perspective, across multiple propulsion system product lines. As a leader in this team, you will ensure your team's development of reliable, repeatable testing in support of business needs and timing. A person in this position will work closely on a daily basis with internal/external business partners and support personnel.\nIn this role, you will be a valuable part of the team by:\nResponsible for the day-to-day direct supervision of a team of direct engineering reports\nProvide decision-making and a high level of independent judgment based on experience and skill\nMeets Quality Requirements as it pertains to IATF 16949 and serve as the subject matter expert during audits\nAssists with the planning of test engineer and test cell utilization\nConducts performance reviews and assists in the development of test engineers\nInterfaces and collaborates with Allison Transmission internal resources and business partners\nWork closely with Product Engineers to make sure test deliverables (information) are completed on-time, to keep them informed of current test status, and resolve priority issues within/across the various product groups\nAssists test engineers in utilizing a systems engineering approach to design, develop, implement, and execute reliable, repeatable testing in support of business needs and timing\nContribute to department continuous improvement activities to increase testing efficiency, reduce cost, and drive high levels of quality\nAssumes appropriate responsibilities as a member of the assigned product development teamParticipates in planning and/or status meetings\nPromotes teamwork on all work related assignments\nMaintains willingness to share professional knowledge and experience with teammates\n\nManages and oversees the execution of product testsCreating, managing, and delivering multiple projects on-time and to budget\nAssures facilities and support areas are informed, equipped, and prepared to match the flow of test needs\n\nAssists with the documentation of test events/results through proofreading and authorizing Test Reports\nPrepares, or assists in preparation of program bids or requests for cost estimates\nObserves applicable procedures and practices as delineated in Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures, and Standard Procedures\nAdheres to and strives to improve the engineering development process\nEstablishes and updates best practices and standardized testing procedures\nExpense, travel, PO, and RFQ approval for direct reports\nOther duties as assigned\nTo be successful in this role you will need the following:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering or equivalent degree or equivalent experience\nRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nMinimum of 5 years of Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering experience\nAbility to lead multiple projects at a time\nProficient in oral and written business communication\nTargets and achieves results, sets meaningful goals, prioritizes tasks, provides leadership/motivation\nHigh level of technology experience with industrial controls, data acquisition equipment and systems, and heavy duty test equipment or equivalent experience with industrial systems\nHigh level of analytical ability\nHigh level of interpersonal skills\nAbility to set and meet goals for all deliverables\nDemonstrated technical ability\nProficiency with computer operations, including Microsoft Office tools\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings required\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nPrevious direct report supervision experience\nExperience in laboratory test environment\nBasic understanding of transmission and powertrain systems\nBasic knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches, controls (both hydraulic and electrical), hydraulics, gears, electric machines, and hybrid and electrified propulsion systems desired but not required\nTroubleshooting experience in electronic controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems preferred\nStatistical training highly desired\nAllison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
