Eligibility may be subject to the terms and conditions of governing documents and available benefits may be subject to change at the company’s discretion.\nChoice of medical plans with prescription coverage\n\nEmployer HSA contribution\n\nDental & Vision Insurance\n\nPaid Parental Leave\n\nShort & Long-Term Disability\n\nOther voluntary benefits including: Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Identity Theft Protection and Pet Insurance\n\n401K with generous Company match & contribution\n\nAccrued Paid Time Off\n\n12 Paid Holidays + 1 Floating Holiday\n\nRobust employee wellness program\n\nTuition assistance program\n\nJob Description:\nPrimary Purpose of Role\nUnder supervision of Manager of Spicer Torque-Hub Engineering, the Senior Gear Systems Engineer performs diversified design and research in areas of future product development for Off-Highway, including but not limited to new gear designs, gear optimizations, new gearbox designs, new materials, and new manufacturing and assembly methodologies.\nKey Responsibilities\nInterpret customer technical specifications and use them to correctly design complete gearbox systems including but not limited to bevel gears, cylindrical gears, shafts and splines to meet Off-Highway design practices and Off-Highway/customer performance requirements.\nProperly size and select hardware items such as but not limited to bearings, bushings, seals, o-rings, bolts, friction disks, retaining rings, washers used in complete gearbox systems or sub-assemblies.\nProvide technical support to purchasing, manufacturing plants, assembly plants, and other engineering departments during sourcing, vehicle development, launch, and production.\nAuthor and/or review DFMEAs and DVP&Rs and as well as participate in APQP and review part deviations and PPAPs.\nMentor and train less experienced gear engineers and technicians.\nPerform benchmarking and competitive gear analyses. Develop and implement VAVE cost savings projects\nCompetencies and Behaviors\nFundamental understanding of how hydrostatic and electrically driven drivetrains operate, and familiarity with all of the components within including but not limited to:\nHydraulic pumps, motors, valves\nSpring applied, hydraulically released (SAHR) brakes\nSpring applied, electrically released (SAER) brakes\nElectric motors (DC, AC induction, IPM, SRIPM and others), both high and low voltage\nParametric modeling experience\nGD&T\nUnderstanding of failure modes of gearboxes\nSuccessful record of VAVE engineering in the life cycle of a product\nQualifications and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field. A graduate degree in engineering or business is preferred but not required.\n1+ years of experience in bevel and/or cylindrical gear powertrain engineering in the automotive, commercial vehicle, or off-highway industries\n1+ years of experience in gear design software (KissSoft, Gleason, Klingelnberg, or Romax preferred) and/or gear manufacturing and inspection.\nTravel\nTravel domestically and internationally as needed based on business needs.
