Allison Transmission is seeking an eMobility Product Engineer to join its fast-paced, dynamic eMobility group. In this role, you will apply your engineering expertise cross-functionally to develop the industry's most reliable hybrid and electric powertrain systems. This opportunity directly supports legacy H40/50, eGen Flex, and eGen Power product initiatives. Additionally, you will serve as the primary product engineering liaison for the manufacturing plant, providing immediate technical support to troubleshoot and resolve emerging product-related production issues.\nKey Responsibilities:\nPerform mechanical hardware design in support of current and new product development.\nWork cross-functionally with departments to improve existing products and develop new technologies.\nPerform engineering calculations as required for the specific component or sub-assembly using hand calculations, spreadsheet tools, FEA, or other available analysis tools.\nDesign new parts in CAD and review FEA results; make design judgments including stress housings, shafts, bearings, machining components, etc.\nWork cross-functionally to root cause emerging product related issues.\nDevelop a solid understanding of the manufacturing aspects of design and provide manufacturing support.\nDesign mechanical components and sub-systems incorporating appropriate GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.\nWork with suppliers, Purchasing, and Supplier Quality Engineers to support cost reductions, sourcing, and design changes.\nSupport product development builds and prototype programs.\nEstablish or modify validation plans for components or subassemblies, including defining performance requirements, acceptance criteria, and testing conditions; review data and provide final interpretation of test reports.\nServe as the primary product engineering contact for the manufacturing facility, providing rapid response troubleshooting to resolve emerging product issues and maintain production continuity.\nCommunicate technical issues, risks, and proposed solutions to management and cross-functional teams.\nKey Performance Measures:\nTechnical recommendations are supported by sound engineering work and judgment.\nDeliverables are completed in a timely manner.\nDesigns comply with applicable engineering standards.\nComponent drawings appropriately capture required specifications and comply with current standards and practices.\nIssues and proposed solutions are communicated clearly and effectively to management and organizational leadership.\nCompetencies and Behaviors:\nDecision Making: Makes timely and effective decisions with appropriate consideration of technical risk.\nProblem Solving: Capable of solving low-to-medium complexity technical problems with minimal guidance.\nCollaboration: Works effectively within a team, utilizing appropriate resources.\nDelivers Results: Delivers solutions that account for and address cross-functional concerns.\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nSelf-starter with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.\nMinimum 5 years of product design and development experience in automotive or heavy-duty transmissions, axles, driveline or powertrain components.\nExperience:\nMaster’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.\nKnowledge of mechanical systems including, but not limited to, gears, bearings, castings, differentials, cooling, lubrication, and sealing systems.\nKnowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.\nProficiency in coding, including but not limited to MATLAB.\nStrong understanding of DFMEA and APQP methodologies.\nAbility to read engineering drawings and blueprints.\nStrong knowledge of product validation and reliability.\nProficient in Microsoft Office products.\nAllison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
