And for more than 90 years, our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs. From advocating for seat belts, air bags and graduated driving laws, to being an industry leader in pricing sophistication, telematics, and, more recently, device and identity protection.\nJob Description\nAbout the Team\nOur FinOps team helps technology and product teams better understand what they are spending in the cloud, where that spending is going, and how they can get more value from it. We partner across engineering, product, architecture, finance, and procurement to turn complex cloud-usage data into practical recommendations and measurable outcomes.\nWe are hiring because cloud usage continues to grow, and we need additional technical capability to identify optimization opportunities, automate analysis, and help teams take action.\nThe team plans to expand as we move beyond traditional cloud-cost reporting toward more proactive workload optimization, unit economics, automation, and cost management for emerging technologies such as AI.\nWhat You’ll Do\nIn this role, you will help teams understand and optimize the cost of their cloud and containerized workloads. You will analyze usage data, identify opportunities, build lightweight automation, and translate your findings into recommendations that engineering, product, finance, and leadership teams can act on.\nYou do not need to be an expert in every area of FinOps. We are looking for someone with a strong cloud or engineering foundation who enjoys working with data, solving open-ended problems, and learning new areas.\nWhy You May Be Interested\nYou will have the opportunity to shape how FinOps capabilities are built and delivered, rather than simply operating an established process.\nYou will work directly with cloud, Kubernetes, engineering, finance, architecture, and product teams.\nYou will see the measurable impact of your work through improved cloud efficiency and cost savings.\nYou will have the flexibility to test new ideas, recommend tools, and build practical solutions.\nYou will gain exposure to developing areas such as unit economics, AI cost management, and token-based consumption.\nYou will join a growing team where initiative, curiosity, and continuous learning are valued.\nJob Responsibilities\nAnalyze cloud and Kubernetes usage to identify idle capacity, inefficient workloads, cost anomalies, and practical optimization opportunities.\nPartner with engineering and product teams to evaluate recommendations, explain expected impact, and support implementation.\nBuild lightweight scripts, API integrations, and repeatable workflows that reduce manual analysis and connect relevant data sources.\nDevelop reports, dashboards, forecasts, and cost insights that help teams understand spending trends and plan future cloud usage.\nSupport cloud commitment planning, reservations, savings programs, and other strategies that improve overall cloud-cost efficiency.\nHelp expand FinOps practices through standards, documentation, education, and tools that enable product and engineering teams to take greater ownership of their cloud costs.\nMandatory Qualifications\nHands-on experience working with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.\nExperience analyzing or optimizing cloud infrastructure, containerized applications, or Kubernetes-based workloads.\nWorking knowledge of cloud billing, usage, cost allocation, forecasting, or cost-optimization concepts.\nAbility to use Python or another scripting language for basic automation, API calls, data preparation, or systems integration.\nExperience using data to identify trends, investigate issues, and develop clear, actionable recommendations.\nStrong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and financial information to engineering, finance, product, and leadership audiences.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with FinOps, cloud financial management, technology business management, or cloud-cost optimization.\nFamiliarity with tools such as Apptio Cloudability, VMware CloudHealth, Finout, Adaptive6, or cloud-native cost-management platforms.\nExperience with Kubernetes cost allocation, workload rightsizing, autoscaling, cluster efficiency, or shared-cost analysis.\nExperience using SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Datadog, or similar analytical and observability tools.\nFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, developer portals, or engineering automation workflows.\nExposure to unit economics, AI cost governance, token consumption, model-selection economics, or FinOps Foundation practices and certifications.\nSynonymous titles: Cloud Cost Optimization Engineer, Cloud FinOps Engineer, Digital Cost Management Consultant, FinOps Platform Product Owner, Consumption Analytics Lead, Cloud Economics Consultant\nSkills\nAI Ops, API Calls, Cloud Economics, Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Platform, Cost Optimization, IT Cost Optimization, Kubernetes, Scripting, Terraform (Software)Compensation\nCompensation offered for this role is 98,100.00 - 167,850.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications. The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.\nJoining our team isn’t just a job - it’s an opportunity. One that takes your skills and pushes them to the next level. One that encourages you to challenge the status quo. One where you can shape the future of protection while supporting causes that mean the most to you. Joining our team means being part of something bigger - a winning team making a meaningful impact.\nAllstate generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position.\nEffective July 1, 2014, under Indiana House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1242, it is against public policy of the State of Indiana and a discriminatory practice for an employer to discriminate against a prospective employee on the basis of status as a veteran by refusing to employ an applicant on the basis that they are a veteran of the armed forces of the United States, a member of the Indiana National Guard or a member of a reserve component.\nFor jobs in San Francisco, please click “here ” for information regarding the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.\nFor jobs in Los Angeles, please click “here ” for information regarding the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance.\nTo view the “EEO Know Your Rights” poster click “here ”.
