Unlike traditional management positions, approximately 80% of this role is dedicated to software development, solution architecture, production support, and technical leadership, with the remaining 20% focused on coaching engineers, resource planning, and stakeholder management.\nThe Managing Engineer will oversee critical legal technology platforms, including vendor-provided legal applications, enterprise integration and orchestration services, and emerging AI-powered legal solutions. This individual will be responsible for designing scalable cloud-native architectures, integrating legal products across the enterprise, and delivering innovative solutions using Agentic AI and Generative Intelligence platforms.\nThe ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise with strong product ownership, operational excellence, and a passion for modern AI technologies. They are equally comfortable debugging production issues, designing APIs, reviewing architecture, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with Legal, Compliance, Security, and Technology stakeholders.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the architecture, development, integration, and support of Legal Technology products and platforms.\nDesign, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications, APIs, integrations, and event-driven services supporting Legal and Regulatory business capabilities.\nActively contribute to software development through hands-on coding, code reviews, architectural design, troubleshooting, and production support.\nIntegrate and orchestrate vendor-provided legal applications with enterprise systems, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.\nDrive technical decisions related to cloud platforms, application modernization, data management, integration patterns, and AI services.\nOwn product reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence, including incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nPartner closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes.\nDesign and implement AI-powered solutions using Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and intelligent automation technologies to enhance legal operations and knowledge management.\nPartner with Legal and Compliance stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage AI responsibly while maintaining governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.\nLead experimentation, innovation, and adoption of emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and legal technology solutions.\nOwn the reliability, supportability, security, scalability, and performance of Legal Technology products in production.\nManage vendor relationships, product upgrades, integration initiatives, and platform lifecycle activities.\nDefine operational KPIs, service-level objectives, and engineering metrics to ensure platform health and business value realization.\nLead, coach, and mentor team of engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning\nInfluence stakeholders and engineering teams to adopt modern engineering and AI best practices.\nFunctional Skills\nStrong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.\nProficiency in Python for automation, and platform engineering.\nExperience designing and supporting highly available production systems with accountability for reliability, security, and performance.\nStrong experience with enterprise integrations, API management, workflow orchestration, SaaS platforms, and messaging technologies such as Kafka.\nExperience with relational and NoSQL databases, container platforms such as Kubernetes, and cloud-native data services.\nStrong expertise with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.\nExperience building or integrating AI-powered solutions using Azure OpenAI, LLMs, RAG, vector databases, or related technologies.\nFamiliarity with AI frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration platforms.\nExperience with AI-driven search, knowledge management, or information retrieval solutions is a plus.\nExperience working in Agile environments and collaborating directly with business stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in Legal Technology, Compliance, Risk Management, Regulatory Technology (RegTech), or similar domains.\nExperience with legal research, document intelligence, contract lifecycle management, eDiscovery, or knowledge management solutions.\nExperience managing relationships with technology vendors and SaaS providers.\nExperience leading cloud modernization, integration, or AI transformation initiatives.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.\nExperience\n7 or more years of experience (Preferred)\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nThis job has supervisory duties\nSkills\nCloud Platform, Java (Programming Language), Java Spring, Microservices Architecture, People Management, Software DevelopmentCompensation\nCompensation offered for this role is 120,000.00 - 193,725.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.\nJoining our team isn’t just a job - it’s an opportunity.
