This is an excellent opportunity to put the knowledge and skills you have developed at university into practice and gain experience within a highly regulated industry before returning to complete your degree.\nDuring your placement, you will have the opportunity to:\nPerform a range of molecular biology techniques and laboratory testing activities\nCarry out quality control checks on samples and laboratory methods\nSupport the testing and optimisation of new laboratory methods\nGenerate laboratory data and ensure associated documentation is completed accurately\nReceive, log, store and manage customer samples\nSupport laboratory risk assessments and COSHH assessments\nAssist with the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment\nHelp manage laboratory reagents, consumables and equipment\nWork in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and relevant quality requirements\nContribute to the preparation and review of laboratory and equipment documentation\nYou will work closely with experienced colleagues throughout your placement, giving you the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, laboratory skills and understanding of working within a quality-focused environment.\nJoining Almac means becoming part of a fast-paced, growing organisation within a highly regulated industry. More information can be found here: Life at Almac - Almac.\nWhat you need to be successful\nThis placement is designed for students who are eager to develop their laboratory experience and apply their academic knowledge within an industry setting.\nTo be considered, you must:\nBe currently studying towards a BSc or equivalent qualification within a Life Science-related discipline\nBe prepared to undertake a 12-month, full-time placement before returning to university to complete your programme\nHave practical laboratory experience\nBe able to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail\nHave excellent written and verbal communication skills\nBe able to organise, plan and prioritise tasks within a varied workload\nBe capable of working on your own initiative while contributing effectively within a team\nDemonstrate good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nHave good IT skills\nPractical experience in genomic and/or proteomic laboratory techniques would be advantageous.\nApplicants must have eligibility to work in the UK with no restrictions OR possess a valid work permit that will allow you to take up full-time employment in the UK for the duration of the placement.\nFurther information\nThis is a 12-month, full-time student placement based within Almac Diagnostic Services in Craigavon, after which the successful candidate will return to university to complete their degree programme.\nFurther information on the essential and desirable criteria required for this role can be found in the Job Description attached to this advert.\nHow to apply\nApply online and tailor your CV to outline how you meet the role criteria.
