AlphaGov is seeking a Labor Market Information / Skills-Gap Study Lead for project-based analytic engagements with workforce boards, state workforce agencies, regional councils, and related public employers.
You will design and deliver discrete labor-market, skills-gap, occupational-demand, and workforce-risk studies - producing decision-ready findings for public clients. This is analytic consulting (methods + applied interpretation), not job placement, training delivery, or staff augmentation.
What you'll do:
- Design LMI / skills-gap study scopes, data plans, and analytic frameworks
- Analyze occupational demand, supply, wages, credentials, and regional workforce risk using public and administrative data
- Translate findings into employer- and policy-relevant recommendations
- Produce clear written reports, briefings, and optional board/WDB presentations
- Partner with AlphaGov evaluation SMEs when program-impact questions overlap
- Contribute methods appendices and technical narrative to AlphaGov proposals
Requirements
- 5+ years labor-market analysis, workforce research, regional economics, or related public-sector analytic work
- Demonstrated experience delivering skills-gap, occupational, or LMI studies for a WDB, state agency, regional council, or comparable public client
- Strong quantitative methods literacy and plain-language writing
- Ability to cite concrete past public projects (agency, role, year)
- Nice to have: WIOA/WDB familiarity; Python/R/Stata or advanced Excel; prior consulting/subconsulting; experience pairing with program evaluators
