This will include incident prevention, investigation, reporting and follow-up, employee training, HSE record review, and compliance with other components of the safety programs.\nSpecific Responsibilities:\nWork with National Health and Safety Manager and location manager to implement all ALS health and safety programs in ALS Winnipeg; \nCo-chair the Joint Health Safety and Environment Committee meetings and associated audits; \nProvide orientation and ongoing Health and Safety training for staff; \nCoordinate HSE training programs for all employees (WHMIS, TDG, First Aid, etc.) \nEnsure adequate First Aid management including supplies, reporting, resources, and scheduling; \nPerform incident management including investigation, reporting, and follow up; \nCo-operate with Injury Management personnel as necessary; \nFollow up on monthly site safety inspections and actions; \nRecommend corrective and preventative safety measures and appropriate safety equipment and materials to local management; \nLead risk analysis and hazard identification processes for both safety and the environment; \nCoordinate and maintain contractor management induction, insurance, and documentation; \nMaintain and update SDS records stored on-site; \nMaintain emergency response procedures including scheduling drills and inspections; \nWrite procedures, policies, and educational material for the local safety program; \nAssist National Safety Manager in review and creation of policies and procedures as assigned; \nConduct exposure monitoring programs and employee fit tests; \nNotify and coordinate hazardous sample receipt and analysis with laboratory, safety team, and contractors and disposal as required; \nPerform Quality Systems (QS) administrative tasks as assigned, under the direct supervision of the local Quality Coordinator. \nUse correct protocols as defined in authorized procedures and schedules; \nObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; \nOther duties as assigned. \nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nExcellent English communication skills are mandatory (auditory, verbal, written, and reading); \nStrong organizational and leadership skills; \nAbility to speak in public and effectively present information to groups; \nProven time management skills, including handling escalations and time-critical issues; \nA careful and meticulous worker; \nAble to work independently and as part of a team; \nAble to stay current in an ever-changing environment; \nStrong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required; \nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with competent computer skills; \nRequired Qualifications:\nTechnical Diploma or Degree in HSE, or related discipline; \nExperience in a Laboratory environment is an asset; \nValid unrestricted license for personal vehicle use applicable in the province/territory; \nNo major driving violations and no more than two minor violations/incidents \nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to lift up to 30 lbs on a regular basis and carry for short distances; \nAbility to complete a full shift with a combination of sitting, standing, and occasional walking, including periodic sedentary responsibilities; \nManual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks; \nWear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves, etc. when required; \nYou may be exposed to unpleasant odours; \nPlease note that ALS operates 24/7 and may require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends. \nWorking at ALS\nThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.\nOur values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.\nAt ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
