This role works closely with the HSE Manager and local management to promote a safe and compliant workplace by implementing HSE initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, delivering training, and supporting continuous improvement.\nSpecific Responsibilities\nWork with HSE Manager, Canada Environmental and location managers to implement all new and existing ALS health and safety programs and annual HSE strategies\n\nTravel to Service Centres to maintain onsite compliance on a routine basis as established via Quarterly Inspection Requirements;\n\nCo-chair the Joint Health Safety and Environment Committee meetings;\n\nCoordinate and provideHSEorientationandongoingHealthandSafetytrainingforstaffatthe Waterloo Hub;\n\nEnsure adequate First Aid management including supplies, reporting, resources, and scheduling in Waterloo Hub;\n\nLeadincidentmanagementincludinginvestigation, reporting, andfollowup;\n\nCo-operate with Injury Management personnel as necessary;\n\nCoordinateandmaintaincontractormanagementinduction,insurance,anddocumentation;\n\nMaintain and update SDS records stored on-site;\n\nMaintainemergency responseproceduresincludingschedulingdrills and inspections;\n\nCoordinate and conduct exposure monitoring\n\nComplete employee fit tests and maintain the respiratory protection program\n\nCoordinate and conduct internal HSE training sessions (e.g. spills training, fire safety training)\n\nCoordinateexternal HSE training programs for all employees ( TDG, First Aid, etc.)\n\nParticipate in and follow up on monthly site safety inspections and actions\n\nEnter all hazards and incidents in the Compliance Portal and ensure appropriate information and documents are included\n\nEnsure Compliance Portal is up to date with all required information\n\nRecommend corrective and preventative safety measures and appropriate safety equipment and materials to local management;\n\nLead risk analysis and hazard identification processes for both safety and the environment;\n\nWrite procedures, policies, and educational material for the local safety program;\n\nCoordinate and manage contractor management program including induction, insurance and documentation\n\nAssist HSE Manager, Canada Environmental in review and creation ofHSE policies and procedures as assigned;\n\nUse correct protocols as defined in authorized procedures and schedules;\n\nNotify and coordinate hazardous sample receipt and analysis with laboratory, safety team, and contractors and disposal as required;\n\nObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nExcellentEnglishcommunicationskillsaremandatory(auditory,verbal,written,and reading);\n\nStrong organizationalandleadershipskills;\n\nAbility to speak in public and effectively present information to groups;\n\nProventimemanagement skills,includinghandling escalationsandtime-criticalissues;\n\nAble to work independentlyand take initiative and workas part of a team;\n\nAble to stay current in an ever-changing environment\n\nStrong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;\n\nWorkingknowledge of MicrosoftOffice(Word,Excel,Outlook),with competentcomputerskills;\n\nAbility to travel to other ALS locations within Ontario (e.g. service centres) on regular basis\n\nRequired Qualifications\nTechnical Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety, or related discipline;\n\nMinimum of 1-year experience in a Laboratory environment is preferred;\n\nValid unrestricted license for personal vehicle use applicable in the province/territory.\n\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to lift up to 30 lbs on a regular basis and carry for short distances;\n\nAbility to complete a full shift with a combination of sitting, standing, and occasional walking, including periodic sedentary responsibilities;\n\nManualdexteritytoperformintricateand/orrepetitivetasks;\n\nWear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, etc. when required;\n\nYou may be exposed to unpleasant odours.\n\nOur Benefits Include\nAn estimated hourly pay of $34.22 - $36.10CAD at the time of posting.
