Assaying is carried out using established methods and schedules, while ensuring analytical quality as well as the adherence to safe laboratory practices by working in accordance with the ALS Health and Safety Program.\nSpecific Responsibilities:\nOperate and maintain analytical balances in accordance to ALS procedures.\nAccurately weigh pulp samples within ALS established weight ranges and standardized work instructions.\nInspect prepared pulp samples for homogeneity.\nIdentify suspect samples and report to the Analytical Laboratory Manager.\nReport all quality concerns to the Analytical Laboratory Manager including equipment or sample concerns. Corrects the problem with assistance from the Manager.\nWash labware using correct lab procedures to prevent contamination of glassware and maintain a good circulation of available glassware.\nSafely dispose of sample solution waste using correct lab procedures\nChemical and instrumental analysis, strictly following methodologies for one of the following areas: Carbon and sulphur analysis; \nAqua regia digestion and analysis.\n\nPerform assigned analysis according to established QA/QC requirements, including documentation.\nPerform dilutions.\nPreparation of solutions.\nOrganize workload according to turnaround time commitments and daily statistics.\nAssist others, as required to meet workload and turnaround time commitments.\nComplete required documentation including logs and equipment records.\nMaintain a clean, safe and organized work environment by following established safety rules and regulations and ALS best practices.\nReport all safety concerns to the Analytical Laboratory Manager and participate in incident investigations when required.\nOther duties as assigned by the Analytical Laboratory Manager.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nStrong MS Office skills, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook;\nGood hand eye coordination;\nGood listening skills;\nAble to work in team setting to meet strict deadlines;\nAnalytical and mechanical skills\nDetail oriented with a strong commitment to safety and quality\nGood organizational skills;\nAbility to work independently or under supervision;\nExcellent English communication skills (written and verbal)\nRequired Qualifications:\nRecognized diploma or degree in Science required; Analytical Chemistry preferred.\nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours;\nManual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.\nOur benefits include\nAn estimated hourly pay of $24.82 CAD at the time of posting.
