This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.\nWorking on a rotating lifestyle roster (day and night shifts), you'll play a key role in supporting coal sampling, testing, and laboratory operations while contributing to the success of our site.\nYour key responsibilities\nAs a Laboratory Assistant, your day-to-day duties will include:\nPerforming manual handling tasks in a safe and efficient manner\n\nConducting routine coal sampling and testing\n\nPerforming physical tests including, crushing, and dividing samples\n\nCoal preparation activities\n\nLoading and unloading samples from various plant streams\n\nAssisting with sample preparation and analysis\n\nCarrying out general laboratory duties\n\nMaintaining laboratory equipment and work areas\n\nAdhering to site safety procedures and quality standards\n\nCollaborating with team members across multiple sites as required\n\nTravelling between mine sites, day & night when required.\n\nAbout You\nTo be successful in this role, you will bring:\nA positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn\n\nStrong commitment to workplace safety and quality\n\nGood organisational and communication skills\n\nAbility to work independently and unsupervised when required\n\nFlexibility to work additional shifts as needed\n\nCurrent and valid Driver's Licence\n\nAbility to wear and work in full PPE\n\nPhysical fitness to undertake manual handling activities in frequent hot conditions\n\nBasic computer skills with email, excel and data entry.\n\nDesirable (but not essential)\nPrevious experience working in a laboratory environment\n\nExperience within mining, coal preparation, or resource industries\n\nSample preparation and testing experience\n\nWorking at ALS\nThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.\nOur values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.\nAt ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
