This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in science and laboratory work, who takes pride in producing accurate results and maintaining high standards. You will support the delivery of reliable analytical data, ensuring all work is completed in line with documented methods, quality standards, health and safety requirements, and customer expectations.\nHours Per Week: 40\nDays Per Week: Monday to Friday (08:30 - 17:00)\nContract: Full Time & Fixed Term (until March 2028)\nAnnual Salary: 27,867.36 plus £1000 GMP allowance\nHiring Manager: Sema Ozbek\nClosing Date: Tuesday 3rd November 2026\nThe Day to Day\nCarry out allocated laboratory work in accordance with documented methodologies and procedures.\nPerform analysis within agreed timescales to ensure results are available in line with method and customer expectations.\nComplete daily quality control checks and equipment calibrations.\nEnsure analytical data meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standards.\nMaintain high standards of quality control across all laboratory activities.\nRaise any concerns, problems or doubts regarding allocated tests with the Shift Supervisor.\nMonitor laboratory stock levels and notify the Shift Supervisor when replenishment is required.\nKeep laboratory areas clean, tidy and organised, including the frequent and correct disposal of waste.\nComplete all paperwork clearly, accurately and concisely.\nFollow all company quality management, health and safety policies, procedures and protocols.\nAdhere to COSHH risk assessments, PPE requirements and safe manual handling practices for chemicals and equipment.\nReport any incidents, hazards or near-misses to your Line Manager.\nMaintain your own continuing professional development (CPD) record.\nThe Essentials\nFive GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including Science, Maths and English.\nAn A level, or equivalent qualification, in a scientific subject.\nAbility to follow detailed instructions, documented procedures and laboratory methodologies.\nStrong attention to detail, with the ability to produce and maintain accurate records.\nGood planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own work area effectively.\nGood communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.\nBasic IT skills.\nA customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering work to agreed quality and turnaround standards.\nAn understanding of, or willingness to learn, laboratory quality, health and safety and environmental requirements.\n\nOur Benefits Include:\nAnnual Leave commencing at 25 days (rising to 30) plus 8 public holidays (pro rata for part time)\nAbility to Buy annual leave.\nEnhanced Company Sick Pay Scheme\nSalary Progression Scheme based on technical and behavioural competencies.\n‘Celebrating Success’ Recognition Awards\nPerkbox membership providing access to discount vouchers and wellness hub.\nLearning/study support\nGroup Personal Pension Plan\nCar Parking on-site\nWorking at ALS\nThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.\nOur values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.\nAt ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
