We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable staff filling the following position in Vientiane office.\nJob Summary\nThe Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance function across ALS facilities, equipment, Vehicles, utilities, and infrastructure. The role ensures safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operations through preventative maintenance, asset management, technical support, and continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead and manage the maintenance team, including technicians, contractors, and service providers.\nDevelop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.\nEnsure laboratory, processing, utilities, building, vehicles and production equipment remain safe, reliable, and operational.\nKeep UpToDate maintenance records to satisfy ISO 17025 accreditation.\nManage the computerized maintenance management system, including work orders, asset records, schedules, and maintenance history.\nPrioritize breakdowns, urgent repairs, and planned maintenance activities to minimize operational disruption.\nCoordinate equipment installation, commissioning, calibration, upgrades, and decommissioning.\nPrepare and manage maintenance budgets, forecasts, quotations, and expenditure approvals.\nMonitor maintenance costs, equipment downtime, response times, and asset performance.\nEnsure compliance with ALS policies, safety requirements, environmental standards, quality systems, and applicable legislation.\nLead root-cause investigations for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.\nMaintain critical spares, tools, technical documentation, drawings, and equipment manuals.\nManage external contractors and verify that work is completed safely, correctly, and to specification.\nSupport audits, inspections, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and business-continuity planning.\nPromote a strong safety culture and ensure all maintenance activities follow permit-to-work, isolation, and lockout/tagout requirements.\nIdentify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency, reliability, energy use, and maintenance processes.\nProvide technical advice and maintenance support to site leadership and operational teams.\nCoach, develop, and performance-manage maintenance employees.\nRequired qualifications and experience:\nDiploma, degree, or trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or maintenance engineering.\nRelevant maintenance management or asset-management experience, preferably in a laboratory, industrial, mining, manufacturing, or technical-services environment.\nExperience managing maintenance teams and contractors.\nStrong knowledge of preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, reliability engineering, and asset lifecycle management.\nWorking knowledge of workplace health and safety, electrical safety, risk management, and contractor control.\nBudget management and procurement experience.\nStrong communication, planning, leadership, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and respond to operational emergencies when required.\nProject management experience.\nExperience with ISO, laboratory, quality, or regulated operating environments.\nKnowledge of calibration programs and laboratory or analytical equipment.\nWorking at ALS\nThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.\nOur values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.\nAt ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
