Working across the full control stack, from field instrumentation and PLCs to SCADA, advanced process control (APC), and data historian systems. This role combines hands-on programming with real-world process optimisation to deliver measurable results for our clients.\nSpecific Responsibilities:\nUse correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;\n\nObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;\n\nDevelop, commission, and optimise PLC, SCADA, and advanced process control (APC) systems;\n\nDiagnose and troubleshoot control system faults and performance issues;\n\nWrite and maintain applications in Python, C/C++, Bash, SQL, and other scripting languages;\n\nConfigure and commission historian, analytics, and reporting systems;\n\nContribute to continuous improvement and innovation across projects;\n\nMaintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, and version control;\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nProficiency in PLC and SCADA/HMI programming across any major platform;\n\nUnderstanding of process control in mineral processing or mining environments;\n\nHands-on familiarity with industrial networks and communications protocols;\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving mindset with excellent attention to detail;\n\nAbility to work independently on complex systems and collaborate effectively with plant operators and engineers;\n\nExperience with Linux-based environments (Arch Linux experience highly regarded);\n\nExperience with APC, data analytics, historians, and data visualisation tools (asset);\n\nPCB design or microcontroller experience (asset).\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nDegree in Engineering or Computer Science (Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field);\n\n5+ years experience designing, testing, and commissioning industrial control systems;\n\nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to sit at a desk and perform general office work, including periodic sedentary responsibilities;\n\nManual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;\n\nWear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) when required on client sites;\n\nThis role involves a mix of office-based engineering (Monday-Friday, 8-hour days) and client site commissioning on FIFO rosters (8/6, 4/3, or 2/2), with typical site shifts of 12 hours; domestic and international travel required.\n\nYou may be exposed to unpleasant odours and industrial hazards at client processing facilities.\n\nOur benefits include:\nAn estimated annual salary of $115,000 - $135,000 at the time of posting.
