In this role, you will tackle complex challenges that require innovative problem-solving at the intersection of geoscience, ore and waste characterization, and geometallurgy to improve understanding of downstream processing performance.\nYou will collaborate with our global teams in metallurgy, geochemistry, and mine-site laboratories, leveraging their expertise in generating high-quality data. You will also work alongside Geoanalytics specialists in geoscience, machine learning, and software development, gaining exposure to deep industry expertise and leading scientific practices.\nSpecific Responsibilities:\n Consulting Expertise: Provide specialist consulting services to exploration and mining companies. Promote integration of geochemical and spectral datasets using expert knowledge and machine learning to predict specific geometallurgical properties (e.g. mineralogy, acid base accounting, hardness) for advanced stage exploration and mining clients. Perform site visits and provide technical guidance to clients.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with ALS geochemistry, metallurgy, mine production services, and processing personnel on combined service offerings. Travel as required to ALS Geoanalytics’ offices for training and project collaboration.\nProgramme Management: Ensure and oversee timely and quality delivery of progress reports and final technical reports to clients. Monitor and report on project budget.\nClient Engagement: Organise and lead project kick-off, progress, and close-out meetings with clients. Effectively communicate and describe technical aspects to clients in a professional and knowledgeable manner.\nBusiness Development: Support business development by generating new leads, progressing leads through project pipeline, client communications, conference representation, and preparation of technically robust client proposals.\nMentorship and Team Management: Effective coordination and collaboration of project team members. Train and mentor junior team members and contractors. Participate in professional development programmes.\nHealth and Safety: Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;\nTechnical Review and Compliance: Conduct technical due diligence on client projects. Conduct peer review and technical editing of reports. Ensure compliance with JORC, NI 43-101 or other related Code reports as a Competent Person or Qualified Person.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nProven expertise in applied geochemistry and the practice of predictive geometallurgy in a variety of geological environments and mineralization styles.\nExperience in geoscience consulting including project delivery and client engagement.\nExposure to basic geostatistical practices for model validation and 3D domain modelling is an asset.\nDemonstrated skill and success in managing collaborative geoscience projects with a commitment to technical leadership.\nProficiency in use of LeapFrog (or similar) for validation and modelling of predictive model results.\nProven capability to articulate complex concept to diverse audiences, delivering clear and concise reports and presentations.\nAdvanced user of GIS software such as QGIS and 3D software such as LeapFrog\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills (English required; English-French preferred)\nRequired Qualifications\nA minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining industry that includes project management, mineral exploration, consulting, applied geochemistry, machine learning, and relevant research studies.\nPost secondary degree in geology, geological sciences, applied geochemistry, or geological engineering (Masters Degree preferred)\nRegistered Professional Geoscientist, or the necessary credentials to obtain such designation, in relevant Canadian jurisdiction.\nValid full Provincial driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.\nPhysical Demands\nManual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;\nWear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;\nAbility to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;\nAbility to conduct physically demanding geological field work in remote areas\nOur benefits includes:\nAn estimated annual salary ranging from $90,000 - $120,000 at the time of posting.
