Ltd.\nReporting To: Laboratory Manager / Operations Manager\nRole Purpose\nThe Team Leader - Proximate Analysis will be responsible for managing and supervising the day-to-day operations of the Proximate Analysis section within the Central Laboratory. The role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant testing while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, productivity, and team performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and supervise analysts and technicians involved in proximate analysis activities.\nEnsure timely testing and reporting of samples as per agreed turnaround times (TAT).\nReview and verify test data, calculations, and analytical results before release.\nEnsure compliance with ALS quality standards, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.\nMaintain laboratory instruments and ensure proper calibration, qualification, and preventive maintenance.\nInvestigate and resolve analytical issues, OOS (Out of Specification), and laboratory deviations.\nMonitor workload distribution and optimize resource utilization.\nTrain, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff to enhance technical competency and productivity.\nCoordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth sample flow and project execution.\nEnsure adequate inventory of laboratory consumables, reagents, and reference standards.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.\nMaintain accurate laboratory documentation, logbooks, worksheets, and records.\nEnsure adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) practices at all times.\nTechnical Requirements\nHands-on experience in proximate analysis techniques\nStrong understanding of laboratory quality systems and data integrity principles.\nKnowledge of ISO/IEC 17025.\nExperience in handling laboratory instruments and troubleshooting analytical issues.\nQualifications\nM.Sc. / B.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.\nAdditional certifications in Quality Systems or Laboratory Management will be an advantage.\nExperience\n5 to 8 years of laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-leading role.\nExperience in testing laboratories, pharmaceuticals, food, environmental, or related analytical industries preferred.\nWorking at ALS\nThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.\nOur values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.\nAt ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
