This position will also assist in the training of the WOE group.\nSpecific Responsibilities\nProcessing and filing a variety of paperwork\nMaintains inventory and orders office supplies\nMaintains close liaison with supervisors and other lab staff to ensure the smooth delivery of our services to clients\nResponsible for proper and timely follow-up of client enquiries or requests\nEnsures that work-order write ups are checked and entered accurately and in a timely manner\nPrepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information and establishing entry priorities\nEnters data and maintains entry requirements by following data program procedures. Reviews output to test for accuracy\nFollow up on “On Hold” work orders\nAssists with editing or creating CPT’s as required\nEnsures that ALS Group analytical codes and procedures are being followed\nMaintains communication by referring client inquires to Supervisor or client service personnel\nProvides input on quality improvements to the department\nIn consultation with Supervisor, may assist with investigating client enquiries and complaints related to quality issues and suggest proactive actions\nIdentifies internal and external problems when they arise\nCommunicates with Client Services/Marketing, Quality and V Branch\nRecords and files WOE meeting minutes\nAttends WOE peer group meetings.\nInvestigates WOE quality and safety incidents and contributes with innovative ideas to improve WOE department quality, safety, and productivity\nResponsible for training and monitoring performance of WOE staff\nAssists with WOE employee performance evaluations\nAssists in keeping WOE staff training records and controlled documents up-to-date\nMaintain a positive work environment through active team participation with a focus on quality customer service and maintaining client confidentiality\nUse correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality\nObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedure\nOther duties as assigned by Manager.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nThorough knowledge of WOE procedures and methods\nPleasant and professional telephone manner\nOrganized, highly motivated and customer focused individual\nDetail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality and safety\nAbility to work independently and/or as part of a team\nAbility to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues\nStrong interpersonal and leadership skills along with the ability to exercise diplomacy and tact\nFamiliarity with Webview and StarLIMS\nFamiliarity with ALS Group analytical codes and procedures\nStrong keyboarding skills with an emphasis on accuracy\nExcellent English communication skills both written and verbal\nExcellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.\nRequired Qualifications\nMinimum 2 years work experience in a commercial minerals’ laboratory or minerals sample preparation required\nMinimum 1 year experience working within a data entry capacity required\nCompletion of an office administration certificate or diploma preferred\nBackground in Chemistry and/or a related field would be an asset.\nPhysical Demands\nManual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks\nWear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required\nAbility to stand for a full shift\nAbility to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities\nPlease note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.\nWorking at ALS\nThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.\nOur values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.\nAt ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
