We are committed to consistently delivering a safe Gautrain, on time every time.\nBombela Maintenance is looking to recruit 2x Communications Technicians.\nThe main purpose of this role is to conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibrations, testing and cleaning of communication systems [ Including Close Circuit Television Visual (CCTV), Public Address/Voice Alarm, Telephones/Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX), Virtual Local Area Network, Public Information Systems, Fibre Optic Communications, SCADA)].\nThis role will be based at the Gautrain Maintenance Depot in Midrand, Johannesburg.\nYOUR ROLE:\n Works order management: Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with laid down schedules, approved procedures and technical methods. Assess work orders to determine work required and schedule the following week’s plan (Engineering hours). Form the interface between Comms Maintenance team and relevant contractors.\nIncident and disaster management: Respond to emergencies/breakdowns/failures in accordance with established procedures and restore within the shortest possible time to normalise the revenue earning service. Investigate to find root cause of the damage,coordinate and mobilise resources and put plans in place to avoid future occurrences.\nTrouble shooting and fault finding: Establish root cause of failures in order to reduce breakdowns - includes testing, calibration and component replacements and repairs etc. Recommend changes and submit to Signal and Communications Supervisor\nInspections on communications and IT systems: Undertake regular reactive and proactive inspections to ensure condition of equipment throughout the network is in accordance with standards. Create CPM’s for any deviations and ensure that deviations are rectified. Liaise with relevant stakeholders to determine compliance to standards and needs for improvement. Conduct first line inspections on signalling and radio system as and when required\nEffective management of safety compliance: Ensure that all safety regulations and compliance requirements are adhered to at all times\n Internal and external stakeholders relationship management: Use influence and negotiation to achieve win-win outcomes. Proactively communicate and share information and encourage discussion and debate (share successes and highlight challenges with internal stakeholders).\nEffective teamwork and self-management: Continually model Alstom's values. Demonstarte accountability for tasks by being proactive in anticipating potential problems and continually monitor progress to ensure small details are not missed.\n\nYOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:\nMinimum Electronics Engineering Diploma\nMinimum 5 years experience in maintenance environment within one of the above sub-systems\nStrong administration skills and management of production outputs and planning\nBasic knowledge of hand tools and fault finding techniques\nSound knowledge of relevant safety regulations (Act 85 of OHSA)\nValid Driver’s license\nAbility to work independently\nCertificate of Medical Fitness\nCapable of working at heights and ability to see in colour (cannot be colour blind)\nKnowledge of various communication systems (beneficial)\nReport writing experience (advantageous)\nFlexibility to work shifts and be on standby (including weekends and public holidays)\nTechnical Pre-requisites:\nBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office\nKnowledge of operating systems e.g Linux, Microsoft (advantageous)\nYou don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us.
