You will act as the economic and financial adviser to the Project Manager and finance partner to the wider project team, providing accurate and reliable financial information to support effective commercial and operational decision-making.\nThis role requires a strong and proven level of experience, as the successful candidate will be expected to dive straight into the role from day one. You must be highly agile, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced project environment, quickly understanding complex situations and responding effectively to changing priorities.\nYour Role, Your Impact\nLead project financial reviews, controlling, accounting and reporting, ensuring revenue, gross margin, cash flow, forecasts, budgets and balance sheet positions are accurately reported in line with company requirements, internal controls and Delegation of Authority. \nPartner with the Project Manager, Work Package Owners and Project Sub-system Managers to control and optimise project financial performance, challenging estimates to complete, improving margins and ensuring alignment with Planning, Sourcing and other project functions. \nProactively manage project risks and opportunities, ensuring their consistent assessment, valuation, recognition, accounting and reporting, while maintaining full oversight of the financial implications of project documents, contracts and systems. \nDrive effective cash and working capital management, including prompt customer invoicing, payment collection, cash forecasting and improvement actions, reconciliation of Applications for Payment to project costs, and management of project bonds and hedging. \nCoordinate with specialist teams including Tax, Treasury, Insurance, Contract Management and local finance, ensuring projects are appropriately structured and that financial processes and controls remain robust and compliant. \nSupport claims, contractual changes and Variation Orders, ensuring costs and forecasts are appropriately captured, estimates are supported and approved by Work Package Owners, and financial impacts are accurately reflected to maximise future cash flow. \nProvide strong financial input into project meetings, risk reviews and commercial decision-making, producing periodic presentations and ad hoc analysis, investigating financial issues, and ensuring project accounts, contract data and onshore/offshore financial results remain accurate and consistent. \nYou'll work with sharp, committed teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility, ensuring seamless integration of business and technology.\nWhat You Bring\nACCA / CIMA/ACA Qualified or equivalent experience. \nProject Controlling experience is required. \nAbility to work under pressure. \nMust have strong numerical skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels. \nAble to work independently and collaboratively. \nAble to influence and instil confidence in those inside and outside of the finance department. \nAdvanced Excel proficiency with strong experience in using integrated financial systems. \nHow Success Is Measured\nOn-time delivery of financial reports and achievement of project milestones.\nEffective collaboration and leadership within multidisciplinary project teams.\nReduction in financial discrepancies and continuous improvement in process efficiency.\nAlstom, A Great Place to Grow\nEmpowered by cutting-edge digital finance tools and a global innovation mindset.\nDelivering global impact from Derby through sustainable mobility solutions.\nContinuous learning and career advancement through Alstom’s leadership development programs.\nHere, progress isn't always easy, but the impact is real.
