This role plays a key part in supporting project execution, tender activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of engineering talent.\nKey Responsibilities\nWorkload & Resource Planning\nManage Structural Integrity EDU workload forecasting and capacity planning.\nBalance workload versus available skills and resources.\nIdentify staffing requirements and support recruitment, onboarding, and activity transfers when necessary.\nWork closely with Planning Managers and Project stakeholders to secure delivery commitments.\nTeam Leadership & People Management\nLead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary Structural Integrity team.\nEnsure effective implementation of the People Management Cycle, including performance management, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement.\nFoster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.\nEngineering & Technical Leadership\nBuild and maintain a strong technical capability aligned with current and future business needs.\nEnsure understanding and application of Structural Design & Integrity rules, processes, methods, tools, and technical standards.\nPromote deployment and adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) and relevant Engineering and Métier technical referential.\nParticipate in or delegate participation in Structural Integrity network activities and technical communities.\nDrive continuous improvement and Return-on-Experience (RoE) activities, ensuring lessons learned are captured and deployed.\nProject & Delivery Management\nEnsure adequate resources are assigned to tenders, projects, and programs to meet Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) objectives.\nMonitor work package progress and support teams in resolving technical and delivery challenges.\nAssess project risks impacting Structural Integrity activities and define mitigation plans.\nVerify and approve applicable technical documentation according to established requirements.\nOperational Excellence & Continuous Improvement\nDrive deployment of APSYS initiatives within the Structural Integrity EDU.\nImplement structured problem-solving methodologies.\nIdentify, communicate, and manage the team's Top 10 issues and performance risks.\nRegularly report team performance and escalate critical issues affecting project execution or team effectiveness.\nKPI follow-up and reporting\nAchievement of QCD commitments on assigned work packages.\nTimely completion and documentation of design reviews.\nEffective workload management.\nOn-Time Delivery (OTD) and First Time Right (FTR) performance improvement.\nCompliance with engineering processes and standards.\nTimely escalation and resolution of critical issues.\nZero missed Return-on-Experience actions.\nDirect Reports\nStructural Integrity Mechanical Lead Engineers (STR MLE)\nStructural Integrity Calculation Engineers\nStructural Integrity Lead Calculation Engineers\nEducation & Experience\nRequired\nMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.\nMinimum 5 years of experience in structural calculation and mechanical engineering.\nMinimum 5 years of team leadership or people management experience.\nExperience managing engineering teams responsible for industrial or transportation products.\nOIQ membership.\nPreferred\nExperience in railway rolling stock development and project execution.\nPrevious experience within large engineering organisations operating in a matrix environment.\nManagement or leadership certification.\nTechnical Knowledge\nStrong Knowledge Of\nStructural design and mechanical systems.\nStructural calculations and engineering validation principles.\nManufacturing and special processes.\nEngineering standards, processes, and quality systems.\nWorking Knowledge Of\nTrain mechanical architecture.\nInterface management.\nCrashworthiness and passive safety.\nMechanical integration.\nSystems engineering.\nMaterials engineering.\nProject management principles (quality, cost, schedule).\nTools\nMicrosoft Office Suite.\nCATIA and DMA (review/consultation level).\nAltair Product Suite (Hypermesh, Optistruct & Hyperview)\nProfessional Skills & Behaviours\nProven leadership and coaching capabilities.\nGood listening skill\nEmpathic approach\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong conflict resolution and negotiation abilities.\nCustomer-focused mindset.\nHighly organised with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nResilient and adaptable in a fast-paced project environment.\nAbility to influence cross-functional teams and drive technical decisions.\nProficiency in French and English is required.
