The Advisor serves as a key liaison between operations leadership, employees, contractors, and the corporate EHS team, providing guidance, oversight, and support in all aspects of health and safety management.\nThis position is responsible for ensuring employee training and competency requirements are maintained, supporting regulatory compliance, facilitating incident management and emergency preparedness activities, and providing leadership on safety initiatives across the Slave Lake operation.\nWhat You'll Do\nSafety Leadership & Training\nCoordinate and conduct safety onboarding for new employees and contract workers.\nMaintain employee safety certifications and competency records, ensuring training requirements are current and compliant.\nCoordinate recertification requirements and external training courses as required.\nSupport and promote corporate safety initiatives and programs.\nFacilitate and deliver safety-related training sessions and toolbox talks.\nEnsure training requirements are established and maintained for new equipment, processes, and operational changes.\nSafety Programs & Compliance\nParticipate in incident investigations and assist in the completion of incident reports, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.\nMaintain site safety databases and records.\nDevelop, review, and update safety procedures, standards, and work practices.\nConduct workplace inspections, audits, and assessments to monitor compliance and identify improvement opportunities.\nSupport contractor safety management processes and requirements.\nMaintain site Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure product SDS requirements remain current.\nAudit and monitor programs such as isolation, lockout/tagout, and other critical safety controls.\nEmergency Preparedness & Response\nCoordinate and maintain an active role in the site's Emergency Response Program (ERP).\nSupport emergency preparedness planning, training, and exercises.\nParticipate in emergency response events and provide support during incident management activities.\nAssist in maintaining emergency response documentation, resources, and regulatory requirements.\nSafety Committees & Communication\nServe as a site representative and liaison with corporate EHS teams.\nSupport site safety committees and participate in safety meetings.\nCoordinate and facilitate monthly safety meetings for operations, maintenance, and other site personnel.\nFoster employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.\nOperational & Project Support\nProvide safety support during project planning, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.\nAssist in turnaround planning and execution as it relates to safety requirements.\nCoordinate safety-related maintenance requirements with operations and maintenance teams.\nSupport the identification, development, and implementation of safety improvement projects.\nAssist with budget planning and cost control for safety-related programs and initiatives.\nRegulatory & Environmental Support\nProvide support and backup coverage for regulatory reporting and compliance activities.\nMaintain awareness of provincial and federal regulatory requirements applicable to the Slave Lake operation.\nAssist with regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance initiatives.\nSupport risk assessments and hazard identification activities across the facility.\nWhat You'll Bring\nRequired\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\nMinimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas operations, maintenance, health and safety, or a related field.\nStrong knowledge of health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and safe work procedures.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nValid Class 5 driver's license with the ability to travel as required.\nPreferred\nOccupational Health & Safety Degree, Diploma, Certificate, NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent designation (completed or in progress).\nExperience developing and coordinating Emergency Response Programs (ERP).\nExperience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.\nExperience applying risk assessment methodologies in industrial environments.\nExperience supporting regulatory compliance within the oil and gas industry.\nFor Canadian hires: AltaGas hires personnel on the basis of job-related qualifications.
