We’re excited to share that we are hiring two full-time operators to join the team.\nJob Description:\nOur Control Centre team manages and operates AltaLink's transmission wire facilities in real-time, 24 hours per day. Assets include over 13,000 kilometers of transmission lines and 300 substations. As an AltaLink Control Centre Operator, you play a key role in overseeing the safe and reliable transmission of electricity for our customers and will report to the Manager, ACC Real Time within the System Operation - ACC Real Time Team. The successful candidates must also be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift.\nResponsibilities:\nOperating the system in accordance with AltaLink's Transmission Operating Procedures, Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) and North American Electrical Reliability Council (NERC) Operating policies.\nMonitoring adequate voltage and element loading and implementing preventative and corrective action to minimize the number of violations.\nAssessing impact of and implementing the corrective actions required to restore the system to a stable state of minimum risk.\nPreparing and safely carrying out planned and emergency switching procedures on the power system.\nProvide information concerning the state of the system by logging events, including changes to system components and configuration, and recording disturbances and trouble.\nCompile information and prepare reports for the purposes of documentation updates, compliance evidence, incident investigations, business justifications, customer, and operating metrics, etc.\nAssist the ACC Training Specialist with the implementation of the Operator Training Program by providing technical expertise and mentorship.\nParticipate in user acceptance testing for ACC tools and technology to provide SME expertise and feedback. Also provide SME expertise to the broader organization as required.\nInteract with internal business partners and external customers and utility partners to promote collaboration, positive relationships, and excellent customer service.\nParticipate in continuous improvement activities and other duties as assigned.\nDemonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars: one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.\nRequirements\nQualifications:\nMinimum requirement of Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, Power System Electrician or Journeyman Power Lineman or equivalent related utility experience.\nWill be required to attain and maintain NERC certification as a Transmission Operator.\nProven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.\nProficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).\nKnowledge and experience in electricity transmission systems an asset.\nSAP or Oracle experience an asset.\nCommunication skills, both verbal and written, that facilitate collaboration, cooperation, and strong performance.\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes.\nAnalytical and logical reasoning.\nAbility to work independently, perform multiple tasks, and adapt to fluctuating workload demands in a dynamic and fast paced environment.\nMotivation, including willingness to learn through formal and informal on-the-job training and seek continuous improvement.\nAbility to work a rotating 12-hour shift and occasional overtime as required, such as during system emergencies.\nValid Driver’s License as some travel may be required.\nProven track record of good attendance and performance.\nMust meet applicable testing requirements.\nNotes:\nInternal employees must submit their resume internally via https://referrals.workable.com/altalink/jobs/ .
