Combining medical, nursing and clinical services, our staff provides care and treatment for more than 200 adults in need of intensive service provision. The Adult Residential Services Program consists of group homes, which are supervised 24 hours/day when consumers are on the premises. Expected outcomes are the same for each adult group home: to prevent re-hospitalization and to maximize and maintain successful community placement. Residential care focuses on the rehabilitation and return to the community of seriously mentally ill consumers.\nResponsibilities\nSecurity Technicians respond to crisis situations in the inpatient and residential settings, and implement proper Mindset interventions which may include the application of seclusion and restraints. Security technicians are responsible for the safety and security of all consumers, staff and visitors to the hospital or group homes. They conduct perimeter checks both inside and outside the facilities as well as provide visitor control. In addition they conduct searches as directed and monitor for contraband.\nPrimary Job Functions:\nGeneral responsibilities\nResponds to crisis situations throughout Zeigler Campus and implements proper MindSet interventions\nDemonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation\nEffectively demonstrates the application of adult specific competencies\nModels appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.\nApplies restraint per AltaPointe Policy and Procedure\nConducts patient and room searches for contraband items per AltaPointe Policy and Procedure\nConducts Environmental Rounds on a daily basis and document issues accordingly\nProvides monitoring and interaction with patients\nPerforms hand-off communication and shift report at end of shift\nEffectively collaborates with the treatment team members\nActively participates in Security team meetings for performance improvement purposes\nProvides training to staff on crisis intervention as needed\nMaintains a presence within the Zeigler Campus.\nMonitors gates and entry points to ensure they are properly secured\nInquires as to reason of visit when/if visitors appear to be “hanging around”\nProvides back-up support during visitations as needed\nConducts routine walk through of Zeigler campus facilities, outside and parking lots\nEffectively uses Linc Phone and walkie talkies along with charging them when not in use\nCommunicates with additional security staff for extra support as needed.\nNotifies management of safety/security issues that surface\nAny other duties as assigned by supervisor\nSupervision and consultation\nSeeks supervision and consultation as needed\nAccepts and employs suggestions for improvement\nActively works to enhance skills\nCourteous and respectful attitudes towards patients, visitors and co-workers\nTreats patients with care, dignity and compassion\nManages physically aggressive patients in a manner which protects individual dignity, respect, and self-esteem\nRespects patients’ privacy and confidentiality\nIs pleasant and cooperative with others\nAssists patients and visitors as needed\nPersonal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others\nIs sensitive to the patients’ needs, expectations, and individual differences\nIs gentle and calm with patients and families\nAdministrative and other related duties as assigned\nActively participates in Performance Improvement activities\nActively participates in AltaPointe committees as required\nCompletes assigned tasks in a timely manner\nFollows AltaPointe policies and procedures\nAttends appropriate in-services training and other workshops\nPhysical Requirements of the Job:\nResponsible for physical holds/restraints based upon direction of code leader\nFrequent standing, walking and running\nFrequent forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side\nFrequent squat/lunge from a standing position\nStrong grasp is needed to maintain constant contact with a patient during a restraint procedure or with other hold techniques.\nMaintaining back extension while in prone position (stomach toward floor) with one’s own body weight on forearms, thighs, knees to feet. The position is maintained from 30 seconds to extended time up to 1 hour or longer. This physical demand is frequent by nature.\nAbility to put one’s own body weight on one knee and one elbow on the same side of one’s body. The position can last from 15 seconds or longer. This physical demand is frequent by\nAbility to kneel and reach to same side of body with both hands on the floor. This position is maintained for 30 seconds or longer. This physical demand is frequent by nature.\nThis position requires a strong core and upper body strength like that required to do push-ups.\nHave the ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and horizontally.\nAny of the above listed physical demands could take place inside or outside the facility.\nQualifications\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent. Has and maintains a valid driver’s license. Must be 23 years of age or older and must have proof of current liability insurance. Must be able to pass a physical agility test that includes running, push-ups, sit ups, etc. Details are available upon request.
