This role will focus on ensuring products are designed and released with manufacturability, cost, quality, and supplier capability at the forefront of decision-making.\nYou will work closely with engineering teams and suppliers, providing manufacturing expertise throughout the product lifecycle while helping to resolve technical challenges and drive efficient production solutions\nKey Responsibilities:\nReview component designs for manufacturability, including features such as blend radii, integrated profiles, and complex geometries.\nAssess manufacturing feasibility while balancing quality, cost, and supplier capabilities.\nProvide guidance on manufacturing limitations and process constraints within the defined scope of work.\nSupport and advise on special processes including coatings, surface treatments, and related manufacturing activities.\nCollaborate with suppliers to validate manufacturing capabilities and identify appropriate production solutions.\nInterpret and assess engineering drawings and technical documentation.\nWork closely with project and engineering teams to provide manufacturing input and support technical decision-making.\nIdentify opportunities for process improvement, risk reduction, and cost optimisation throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.\n Required Skills:\nProven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.\nStrong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles.\nExperience reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes, coatings, surface treatments, and special processes.\nExperience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners.\nAbility to provide clear technical assessments of manufacturing capabilities and limitations.\nStrong problem-solving skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach.\nComfortable working independently while engaging effectively with multidisciplinary teams.\nRequired Qualifications:\nA Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.\nDesirable Skills:\nExperience in one or more of the following areas would be highly beneficial:\n\nPumps\nActuators\nFuel systems\nFuel spray nozzles\nMechanical fluid power units (MFPU)\nHydraulic and hydromechanical systems\nAerospace manufacturing environments\n Why join us?\nWe bring together entrepreneurial, tech-driven people to deliver innovative solutions for leading companies.\nAt ALTEN, you’ll work on exciting projects, supported by ongoing learning, mentoring, and clear career development tailored to your goals.\nJoin a passionate team and help build tomorrow, today.\nIn short you get:\nA personalised career path and a rewarding management style \nA huge diversity of engineering projects and industries\nPrivate Medical Insurance\nCycle & Tech Scheme \nEmployee assistance programme\nLife insurance & Pension Scheme\nSocial atmosphere, regular gatherings & team buildings\nFlexible way of working (role dependent)\nWe are proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant & actively encourage applications from members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, service leavers, and military spouses/partners.
