At ALTEN, we empower talented engineers to innovate, solve complex challenges, and deliver impactful solutions that build tomorrow’s world-today.\nJoin us and start building tomorrow’s world today!\n he PTLS will provide technical oversight and manufacturing support to fabrication suppliers, ensuring that fabrication, welding, inspection and testing activities are performed in accordance with engineering requirements, quality standards and project objectives.\nThe successful candidate will act as the technical interface between engineering, quality, project teams and suppliers, driving manufacturing excellence and resolving production challenges throughout the fabrication lifecycle.\n.\nKey Responsibilities:\nFabrication & Manufacturing Support\nProvide technical support to fabrication suppliers throughout manufacturing activities.\nReview and interpret fabrication drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation.\nSupport the resolution of production and fabrication issues.\nEnsure manufacturing processes comply with company, customer and industry requirements.\nParticipate in manufacturing readiness reviews and technical assessments.\nWelding Engineering & Oversight\nProvide guidance on welding processes and fabrication techniques.\nReview and assess Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder Qualifications.\nAdvise suppliers on welding best practices and process improvements.\nSupport root cause investigations relating to weld defects and non-conformances.\nEnsure compliance with applicable welding codes and standards.\nInspection & Testing\nSupport inspection and test planning activities.\nReview Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).\nLiaise with Quality teams regarding NDT requirements and acceptance criteria.\nSupport investigations and corrective actions for quality issues.\nEnsure inspection and testing activities meet contractual and technical requirements.\nSupplier Management\nAct as the technical focal point for fabrication suppliers.\nConduct supplier technical reviews and audits when required.\nMonitor supplier performance and identify improvement opportunities.\nSupport supplier development initiatives and knowledge sharing.\nTechnical Problem Solving\nAnalyse manufacturing issues and develop practical solutions.\nConduct root cause analysis for technical and quality concerns.\nProvide technical recommendations based on engineering principles and manufacturing best practice.\nPresent technical findings and improvement proposals to stakeholders.\n Required Skills:\nSignificant experience in fabrication and welding within heavy engineering, defence, nuclear, energy, oil & gas or similar regulated industries.\nExperience supporting fabrication suppliers or manufacturing subcontractors.\nProven involvement in inspection and testing activities.\nExperience reviewing technical manufacturing documentation.\nStrong background in resolving fabrication and welding-related issues.#\nExcellent understanding of:\nFabrication processes\nWelding processes (MIG, MAG, TIG, FCAW, SAW and MMA as applicable)\nWelding metallurgy and material behaviour\nInspection and testing methodologies\nNon-Destructive Testing (NDT)\nManufacturing quality requirements\nEngineering drawings and GD&T interpretation\nRequired Qualifications:\nA Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.\nWelding qualification, CSWIP certification or equivalent highly desirable.\n\nDesirable Skills:\nExperience within regulated industries.\nKnowledge of international fabrication and welding standards.\nSupplier quality management experience.\nContinuous improvement and lean manufacturing knowledge.\n Why join us?\nWe bring together entrepreneurial, tech-driven people to deliver innovative solutions for leading companies.\nAt ALTEN, you’ll work on exciting projects, supported by ongoing learning, mentoring, and clear career development tailored to your goals.\nJoin a passionate team and help build tomorrow, today.\nIn short you get:\nA personalised career path and a rewarding management style \nA huge diversity of engineering projects and industries\nPrivate Medical Insurance\nCycle & Tech Scheme \nEmployee assistance programme\nLife insurance & Pension Scheme\nSocial atmosphere, regular gatherings & team buildings\nFlexible way of working (role dependent)\nWe are proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant & actively encourage applications from members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, service leavers, and military spouses/partners.
