This role is ideally suited to a mechanical engineer who has progressed beyond detailed design and developed significant expertise in requirements management, verification & validation, compliance documentation, and engineering governance.\nWorking within a long-term product development programme, you will take ownership of requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle, ensuring customer needs are translated into robust engineering solutions and successfully verified through to product delivery.\nKey Responsibilities:\nCapture, analyse, manage, and maintain customer requirements throughout the full product lifecycle.\nTranslate customer requirements into clear engineering and manufacturing activities for multidisciplinary teams.\nReview requirements for completeness, quality, consistency, and testability.\nDevelop and maintain requirements traceability, verification plans, and compliance documentation.\nGenerate engineering justifications and technical evidence to demonstrate compliance against customer and regulatory requirements.\nParticipate in technical and design reviews, ensuring engineering solutions satisfy requirements.\nWork closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure requirements can be effectively realised.\nChallenge existing requirements and drive continuous improvement in requirements quality and engineering processes.\nSupport engineering governance activities within a structured aerospace environment.\n Required Skills:\nApproximately 8-15 years of engineering experience within the aerospace sector.\nStrong mechanical engineering background within highly regulated industries.\nExperience in requirements capture, analysis, decomposition, and management.\nGood understanding of Verification & Validation (V&V) methodologies.\nExperience producing technical reports, compliance documentation, and engineering justification.\nUnderstanding of engineering lifecycle processes, governance, and configuration control.\nAbility to work effectively with both engineering and manufacturing stakeholders.\nStrong written communication and technical documentation skills.\nRequired Qualifications:\nA Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.\nDesirable Skills:\nExperience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, or Teamcenter. \nKnowledge of manufacturing processes and production constraints.\nUnderstanding of machining and fabrication techniques.\nFamiliarity with joining processes, including brazing.\nMaterials knowledge, particularly aluminium structures and components.\nUnderstanding of vibration environments and their impact on mechanical systems.\nAbility to assess acceptable and non-acceptable behaviour under vibration conditions.\n Why join us?\nWe bring together entrepreneurial, tech-driven people to deliver innovative solutions for leading companies.\nAt ALTEN, you’ll work on exciting projects, supported by ongoing learning, mentoring, and clear career development tailored to your goals.\nJoin a passionate team and help build tomorrow, today.\nIn short you get:\nA personalised career path and a rewarding management style \nA huge diversity of engineering projects and industries\nPrivate Medical Insurance\nCycle & Tech Scheme \nEmployee assistance programme\nLife insurance & Pension Scheme\nSocial atmosphere, regular gatherings & team buildings\nFlexible way of working (role dependent)\nWe are proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant & actively encourage applications from members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, service leavers, and military spouses/partners.
