This role combines technical leadership with team management responsibilities, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality structural engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.\nThe successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and designers, provide technical direction, and act as a key interface between clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams.\nKey Responsibilities:\nProvide technical oversight for structural engineering activities from concept through to detailed design.\nPlan and allocate resources across multiple projects and work packages.\nReview and approve structural calculations, reports, drawings and technical deliverables.\nEnsure compliance with applicable standards, codes and client specifications.\nCoordinate with civil, mechanical, systems and project management teams.\nSupport design reviews, technical governance and engineering assurance activities.\nIdentify and manage technical risks and engineering challenges.\nMentor and support the development of junior engineers.\nAct as the technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders.\nSupport bid activities, proposals and project planning where required.\nDrive quality, continuous improvement and best engineering practices.\nLead and develop a team of Structural Engineers and Designers.\n Required Skills:\nProven experience delivering structural engineering projects within regulated or complex engineering environments.\nPrevious experience leading engineering teams, technical packages or project delivery teams.\nStrong experience in:\nSteel Design\nReinforced Concrete Design\nStructural Analysis\nDesign Reviews\nEngineering Assurance\nTechnical Leadership\nExperience producing and reviewing structural engineering calculations and reports.\nUnderstanding of relevant design codes and standards.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nRequired Qualifications:\nA Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.\nDesirable Skills:\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.\nExperience within Nuclear, Energy, Infrastructure, Defence or Industrial sectors.\nExperience with structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, Robot, Tekla Structural Designer or similar.\nExperience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.\n Why join us?\nWe bring together entrepreneurial, tech-driven people to deliver innovative solutions for leading companies.\nAt ALTEN, you’ll work on exciting projects, supported by ongoing learning, mentoring, and clear career development tailored to your goals.\nJoin a passionate team and help build tomorrow, today.\nIn short you get:\nA personalised career path and a rewarding management style \nA huge diversity of engineering projects and industries\nPrivate Medical Insurance\nCycle & Tech Scheme \nEmployee assistance programme\nLife insurance & Pension Scheme\nSocial atmosphere, regular gatherings & team buildings\nFlexible way of working (role dependent)\nWe are proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant & actively encourage applications from members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, service leavers, and military spouses/partners.
