We take pride in fostering a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.\nAs a 2D Layout Engineer you will be responsible for;\nLeading factory and site layout design activities across manufacturing lines, warehouses, storage areas, material flow systems, people flow, and support spaces.\nDeveloping long-term site master plans to support capacity expansion, operational scalability, and future manufacturing growth.\nCreating and maintaining detailed 2D and conceptual 3D layouts aligned with business requirements, production plans, and facility constraints.\nDesigning and optimizing end-to-end material flow, including inbound logistics, work-in-process (WIP), warehouse operations, and outbound finished goods movement.\nManaging overall site planning activities, including building placement, transportation routes, dock operations, yard design, utility infrastructure, and logistics interfaces.\nEstablishing and maintaining layout governance standards, drafting procedures, change management processes, and visual factory standards.\nCollaborating with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities, Construction, and EHS teams to ensure successful project execution and alignment.\nPerforming data-driven analysis to improve space utilization, workflow efficiency, labor productivity, throughput, and operational costs.\nDeveloping and integrating PFEP (Plan for Every Part) strategies into facility layouts, storage systems, packaging methods, and line-side delivery processes.\nDefining and tracking key layout performance metrics, including flow distances, aisle utilization, space density, throughput, and bottleneck identification.\nSupporting capacity planning initiatives through OEE analysis, cycle time studies, line balancing, and throughput modeling.\nDriving factory densification and continuous improvement efforts by reducing non-value-added movement and improving operational efficiency.\nSupporting installation, commissioning, layout validation, and production ramp-up activities for new and existing facilities.\nPresenting layout strategies, analytical findings, and business recommendations to technical teams and executive stakeholders.\nQualifications;\nBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.\n7+ years of experience in factory layout planning, site planning, industrial engineering, or manufacturing systems design.\nExperience supporting large-scale manufacturing environments such as automotive, battery, energy, semiconductor, or heavy industrial operations.\nStrong knowledge of factory layout design, site planning, facility infrastructure, and material flow optimization.\nDemonstrated experience with site master planning, building placement, yard design, dock strategies, and logistics infrastructure planning.\nHands-on experience with PFEP (Plan for Every Part), warehouse design, inventory storage strategies, and material handling systems.\nProficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar layout and facility design software.\nExperience using simulation and modeling tools such as FlexSim or equivalent platforms.\nStrong understanding of industrial engineering methodologies including OEE, line balancing, takt time, cycle time analysis, labor planning, and capacity modeling.\nExperience collaborating with construction, facilities, and engineering teams during site development and infrastructure implementation.\nKnowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to facility and site design.\nStrong analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.\nAbility to translate operational and engineering data into actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all organizational levels.\nSalary Range: $95K-$140K\nThe actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience \nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or pregnancy.\nPlease beware of job seeker scams and see this important notice on our careers page for more information about our recruiting process.\nCompliance Notice: Alten USA is a federal contractor subject to the requirements of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Executive Order 11246.
