REMOTE on Friday.\nLocation: Long Beach, CA\nSalary: $120-140k\nThe Exterior Trim DRE will own the engineering development and release of exterior trim components for new vehicle programs, from concept through production launch. The role coordinates design, manufacturing, supplier, quality, validation, and vehicle-integration activities to deliver parts that meet functional, appearance, durability, cost, and timing targets.\nResponsibilities \n\nDevelop and release exterior trim components, including A-surface parts, from concept selection through design maturation and production launch.\n\nDefine component requirements, interfaces, packaging, attachment strategy, and design direction in collaboration with cross-functional teams.\n\nLead design reviews and supplier discussions; resolve issues affecting geometry, appearance, fit, function, cost, and timing.\n\nPrepare and review engineering deliverables, including drawings, models, specifications, engineering change documentation, and design-release data.\n\nLead tooling kick-off and follow tooling progress through design reviews, tool trials, part inspections, and corrective actions.\n\nPlan and coordinate component testing, verification, and validation; track results and drive resolution of test failures.\n\nDevelop and maintain DFMEAs, identify design risks, and ensure mitigations are reflected in the product definition and validation plan.\n\nSupport build events, manufacturing readiness, issue resolution, and launch activities.\n\nManage interfaces with adjacent systems, such as body structure, lighting, sealing, closures, and other exterior components.\nRequired Qualifications \n\nExperience engineering and releasing automotive exterior trim parts, including A-surface components.\n\nExperience taking parts from concept and design maturation through tooling, testing, verification, and launch.\n\nWorking knowledge of 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) for product definition, release, and lifecycle-data management.\n\nExperience developing or maintaining DFMEAs and managing design risk.\n\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and product requirements.\n\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.\nPreferred Qualifications \n\nKnowledge of exterior materials and processes, such as injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, painting, plating, and substrate/finish interactions.\n\nUnderstanding of appearance requirements, Class-A surface interfaces, grain and gloss, color matching, and cosmetic quality.\n\nExperience with tolerance stack-up, fit-and-finish, gap-and-flush, water management, corrosion, and environmental durability.\n\nFamiliarity with supplier tooling, design-for-manufacturing, part inspection, and corrective-action processes.\n\nExperience with change management, build issue tracking, and production readiness.\nSalary Range\n\n$120,000 - 140,000\n\nThe actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience \nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or pregnancy.\nPlease beware of job seeker scams and see this important notice on our careers page for more information about our recruiting process.\nCompliance Notice: Alten USA is a federal contractor subject to the requirements of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Executive Order 11246.
