We take pride in fostering a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.\nJob Summary:\nThe Issue Management Engineer is responsible for leading the intake, documentation, coordination, and resolution of engineering-related issues across all vehicle families and development phases.\nActing as a central point of contact, this role ensures that issues-whether identified during validation, HIL testing, PWB, or in-market performance (IOP, QFS, IQS, warranty)-are properly tracked and resolved.\nThe role supports cross-functional alignment and accountability throughout the engineering lifecycle and into post-production.\nKey Responsibilities:\nIssue Management:\nOwn the issue intake process for both pre-production and post-production phases.\nCapture and prioritize issues from multiple sources: testing teams, validation reports, manufacturing feedback, customer service, warranty data, etc.\nEnsure accurate logging of issues in the GIM system including root cause, responsible parties, and resolution timeline.\nCoordination and Communication:\nServe as liaison between engineering, validation, quality, manufacturing, and customer support teams.\nFacilitate regular cross-functional meetings to review open items, assign actions, and track progress.\nSupport escalations and provide clear status updates to stakeholders and leadership.\nData Management & Reporting:\nMaintain dashboards and reporting tools to monitor issue trends, open item aging, and resolution rates.\nPresent periodic reports to management on issue status, emerging patterns and areas requiring attention.\nIssues documentation on problem definition, root cause analysis, interim and permanent corrective actions.\nSummarize the issues to be understandable for technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nPrepare glidepaths for the Issue Resolution tickets to show the forecast and progress of the team.\nLead the lessons-learned process to document preventive measures for future issues.\nTeam Leadership & Structure Alignment:\nWork within a team structure organized by Vehicle Family and Lifecycle Phase.\nProvide guidance and technical oversight to team members supporting both development and field issue resolution.\nCollaborate with other teams (e.g., Warranty Improvement team / Quality teams) to align practices, share insights, and avoid duplication of efforts.\nQualifications:\n Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).\n 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering, quality, or validation environments.\nDemonstrated experience with issue tracking systems and related tools.\nKnowledge of automotive development and testing processes, including HIL, validation, and launch readiness.\nFamiliarity with field performance metrics (IOP, IQS, QFS, warranty analysis).\nKnowledge of quality tools (APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA).\nStrong communication and organizational skills with the ability to influence across teams.\nExperience working with cross-functional and global teams.\nLessons learned documentation with cross-functional team.\nPreferrable to have experience in the Client Engineering Releasing Process.\nKey Competencies:\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nProcess-oriented with attention to detail and documentation.\nAbility to manage multiple issues and drive them to closure under tight timelines.\nComfortable navigating ambiguity and coordinating across technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nHigh ownership, teamwork and accountability.\nAPQP/PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA experience.\nLessons learned documentation experience.\nExperience with automotive electrical and electronic systems.\nValue to the Organization:\nActs as a safeguard for quality and performance by ensuring no critical issue is overlooked.\nReduces risk to program launches and in-field reliability.\nDrives systemic improvements and cross-functional accountability.\nEnables data-driven decision-making through structured issue tracking and reporting.\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or pregnancy.\nPlease beware of job seeker scams and see this important notice on our careers page for more information about our recruiting process.\nCompliance Notice: Alten USA is a federal contractor subject to the requirements of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Executive Order 11246.
