Management is responsible for technical leadership of system requirements activities supporting vehicle feature development across multiple engineering domains.\nOperating upstream of product design and verification activities, the SME evaluates the impact of new features, feature modifications, and carry-over content on existing vehicle system requirements.\nThe role serves as the authoritative voice for requirements management, ensuring that technical changes are properly assessed, documented, justified, and released before product design and validation activities begin.\nThe SME acts as a key interface between Vehicle Feature Owners, Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design Engineering, and Test & Validation organizations.\nSuccess in this role requires strong systems engineering knowledge, sound technical judgment, assertiveness, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to defend requirement decisions that may impact program timing, cost, and downstream engineering activities.\nAdditionally, the SME serves as a Cluster Lead, providing operational leadership and mentoring to a small team of Requirements Engineers.\nKey Responsibilities:\nRequirements Impact Assessment & Governance\nEvaluate technical impacts associated with:\nNew vehicle features\nFeature enhancements\nFeature modifications\nCarry-over content between vehicle programs\nDetermine whether changes require creation, modification, or release of system requirements.\nProvide technical direction to Requirements Engineers regarding required updates and requirement rework activities.\nEnsure requirements remain:\nComplete\nConsistent\nTraceable\nVerifiable\nAligned to intended feature functionality\nDrive requirement reviews and release decisions.\nServe as technical authority for system requirement content and quality.\nFront-End Systems Engineering:\nOperate upstream of design engineering and validation organizations.\nTranslate customer, business, regulatory, and feature needs into robust system-level requirements.\nAnalyze feature interactions and cross-functional dependencies.\nIdentify technical gaps, assumptions, conflicts, and risks during early development phases.\nSupport development of system architecture concepts when necessary to ensure requirement quality.\nCollaborate with Vehicle Feature Owners and Architecture teams to assess technical impacts of proposed changes.\nStakeholder Management & Technical Representation:\nRepresent the Requirements Management organization within Client and customer-facing discussions.\nDefend requirement decisions and recommendations when challenged by development teams.\nFacilitate technical alignment among:\nVehicle Feature Owners\nSystems Engineering\nArchitecture teams\nDesign Engineering teams\nTest & Validation organizations\nProgram leadership\nPresent and synthesize complex technical information for audiences ranging from technical specialists to executive stakeholders.\nDrive decisions through influence and technical credibility.\nProcess Improvement\nPromote INCOSE-aligned systems engineering practices.\nImprove requirements management methodologies, standards, and governance processes.\nContribute to organizational capability growth in:\nRequirements Engineering\nSystems Engineering\nChange Management\nTechnical Risk Assessment\nLeadership & Cluster Lead Responsibilities\nIn addition to technical SME responsibilities, the role includes operational leadership of a small team.\nResponsibilities include:\nCandidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of:\nSystem requirements development\nRequirement decomposition and allocation\nRequirement change management\nSystems engineering principles\nSystem architecture fundamentals\nCross-functional system integration\nTechnical impact assessment\nEngineering change management\nRisk assessment methodologies\nExperience with requirements management tools such as:\nIBM DOORS / DOORS Next\nPolarion\nJama\nCodebeamer\nEquivalent platforms\nPreferred Qualifications\nAutomotive product development experience.\nVehicle E/E architecture knowledge.\nINCOSE
