Your team will own customer-facing product capabilities as well as the services and infrastructure required to make them reliable, secure, scalable, and performant.\nYou will partner closely with Product Management, UX Design, Technical Program Management, senior technical leads, architects, and engineering leaders to translate product and technology strategy into meaningful customer and business outcomes.\nThis is a senior engineering leadership role. You will maintain enough technical depth to provide sound engineering judgment, review significant technical proposals, and help navigate critical architectural and operational decisions. However, your primary focus will be building strong teams, developing technical leaders, and delivering results through others rather than serving as the team's primary hands-on engineer.\nA Day in Your Life Will Include\nLead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of 10+ engineers, including hiring, performance management, succession planning, and career development.\nBuild leadership capability among senior engineers and technical leads, creating strong and sustainable technical ownership across the team.\nPartner with Product Management to shape product and technical strategy and translate priorities into clear roadmaps and execution plans.\nLead delivery across complex, cross-functional dependencies while identifying systemic execution gaps and improving transparency, predictability, and delivery effectiveness.\nGuide architectural consistency and review significant technical proposals across backend services, frontend experiences, data systems, and cloud infrastructure in partnership with senior engineers and architects.\nOwn operational outcomes across service reliability, scalability, performance, security, cost optimization, observability, incident learning, and technical debt reduction.\nChampion the effective use of AI-assisted and agentic development practices throughout the software development lifecycle while maintaining strong standards for engineering ownership, testing, review, security, and quality.\nCommunicate progress, risks, technical context, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.\nWhat You'll Need\n10+ years of experience owning and delivering mission-critical software platforms, core systems, or complex SaaS products.\nDemonstrated success as an engineering manager, delivering outcomes beyond a single team or across a complex technical domain.\nStrong experience with distributed systems and leading teams responsible for scalable cloud services, production infrastructure, and customer-facing software.\nStrong engineering judgment across architecture, system design, service boundaries, data flows, performance, reliability, security, and operational trade-offs.\nExperience improving engineering quality through automated testing, CI/CD, observability, incident management, secure development practices, and disciplined technical debt management.\nA strong track record of coaching engineers at different career levels, developing technical leaders, and delivering results through others.\nProven ability to influence product and engineering strategy and align teams across Product, Design, Architecture, Platform, SRE, InfoSec, and Engineering.\nExperience navigating ambiguity, organizational change, competing priorities, and incomplete information while maintaining clarity, focus, and team engagement.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical, product, customer-facing, and executive audiences.\nOur Technology Environment\nAlteryx's technology stack includes:\nBackend: Kotlin, Python, Java, C#, TypeScript\n\nFrontend: React, TypeScript/JavaScript, component libraries and design systems, MFE architecture, Playwright.\n\nDatabases: PostgreSQL and other relational data technologies\n\nMessaging & Streaming: RabbitMQ, Kafka\n\nCloud: Azure, GCP, AWS\n\nContainers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes\n\nInfrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible\n\nCI/CD & Observability: GitLab CI/CD, Datadog, and related tooling.\n\nYou don't need experience with every technology in our stack.
