Role Overview

We are looking for a Solution Architect to lead a rapid, AI-supported refactoring of a large-scale self-learning mobile application for a European EdTech leader. The platform serves 2M users to date, with around 100k monthly and 50k daily active users. Your goal will be to design the target architecture for moving from a PHP/Laravel, SQL-heavy backend to a headless React + Node.js stack with a high-performance database, and to set up an AI-native delivery approach: using AI discovery tools to extract requirements and business rules straight from legacy code and database schemas, and building MCP servers that connect AI agents to every part of the tech stack and SDLC workflow. This is a client-facing role: you will work directly with the customer's stakeholders, run technical workshops and guide decisions.

Responsibilities

• 8+ years of experience in software development, including 3+ years in an architect role
• Deep, practical expertise in AI discovery tools such as Explain Everything, used to uncover and document business requirements straight from legacy code and database schemas
• Proficiency in building MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for different parts of the tech stack and SDLC workflow
• Proven experience in legacy system migration or modernization projects
• Solid understanding of PHP/Laravel and strong knowledge of Node.js and React
• Experience designing solutions on Google Cloud Platform (e.g. Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Firestore)
• Experience with architecture for mobile applications and high-traffic systems
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and data migration; experience with high-performance databases
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)
• Consultant mindset: ability to build trust with clients, facilitate technical discussions and present architecture recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Fluent English (spoken and written)

Nice to have

• Background in EdTech or e-learning platforms
• Experience with React Native
• Pre-sales or technical consulting experience

Requirements

• Lead AI-driven discovery: use tools such as Explain Everything to recover business requirements and logic from the legacy PHP/Laravel code and database schemas
• Design the target headless architecture (React + Node.js) and select the right database solution for performance and scale
• Design and build MCP servers for different parts of the tech stack and SDLC workflow (codebase, database, documentation, ticketing, CI/CD, testing)
• Design an automated, AI-assisted approach to migrating learning content and data
• Define how AI tooling (discovery tools, MCP-connected agents, AI refactoring) is used across the delivery process, including quality and validation checks
• Lead workshops and technical discussions with the client, translate business needs into architecture decisions
• Support pre-sales activities: estimates, roadmaps, risk assessment and technical proposals
• Guide and review the work of the development team
