We're looking for a seasoned professional to lead a high-impact technology transformation within a large higher education institution.\n\nYou'll assess an established student information platform, identify modernization opportunities, and design a roadmap toward a scalable, secure, Azure-based architecture. Working closely with IT leadership, developers, and business stakeholders, you'll help create a more connected and personalized digital experience for students.\n\nWhat's In It for You\n• Opportunity to lead a meaningful enterprise modernization initiative.\n• Collaborate with experienced technical teams and senior decision-makers.\n• Influence long-term architecture decisions while improving essential student services.\n\nYour Responsibilities\n• You'll lead architecture assessments, code-level diagnostics, dependency mapping, and technical debt evaluations.\n• You'll assess Java 8, Angular/AngularJS, Db2, REST APIs, JAX-RS, JPA, Maven, Gradle, and IBM JSR-352 integrations.\n• You'll define target architecture, service boundaries, API strategies, and Azure PaaS hosting recommendations.\n• You'll design modernization approaches using domain-driven design, strangler-fig migration, and branch-by-abstraction.\n• You'll develop implementation-ready designs, transaction models, migration plans, and measurable performance targets.\n• You'll present recommendations, technical trade-offs, and a phased roadmap to leadership while transferring knowledge to internal teams.\n\nSkills and Qualifications\n• 10+ years of enterprise or solution architecture experience, including three major legacy modernization engagements and two monolith decomposition initiatives.\n• Proven experience designing high-volume, business-critical systems while maintaining operational continuity.\n• Expertise in Azure App Service, containers, API Management, Event Hubs, Azure SQL, landing zones, and hybrid connectivity.\n• Strong knowledge of REST, event-driven architecture, message queues, OpenAPI, anti-corruption layers, and relational databases, preferably Db2.\n• Proficiency in C4 modelling, bounded contexts, architecture decision records, sequence diagrams, data ownership, consistency patterns, observability, security, and cost optimization.\n• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or recent architecture certifications preferred.\n• Strong stakeholder communication and facilitation skills.
