We are hiring an Engineering Director to lead engineering from early-stage screening through design maturity and field execution, owning multi-discipline integration, EPC performance, major equipment technical direction, and stakeholder coordination.\nThis role blends power plant systems leadership with project engineering/program leadership. You’ll manage both the internal Alva engineering team and external engineering contractors/EPC partners, and you’ll interface directly with site owners and key OEMs/suppliers.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead multi-discipline engineering delivery: coordinate mechanical, electrical/I&C, civil/structural engineering.\n\nOwn plant power integration: lead system design for modifications and tie-ins to the existing plant.\n\nManage EPCs and engineering contractors: define scopes, interfaces, and deliverables; run design/progress reviews; oversee technical performance, RFIs, design changes, and issue resolution.\n\nDrive stage-gated engineering maturity: lead engineering maturity from FEL-1 through FEL-3 (or 30/60/90%), setting deliverables, quality criteria, and gate reviews.\n\nDevelop specs and review technical deliverables: draft/review engineering standards, technical specifications, and contract scopes for EPC and major equipment.\n\nOwn major equipment technical direction: develop technical specifications for steam turbines, condensers, and feedwater/condensate systems; conduct technical evaluations of vendor proposals and designs.\n\nTranslate engineering into field execution: support construction-ready work packaging and execution plans; provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup.\n\nBuild and lead the team: hire, onboard, mentor, and grow Alva’s engineering function; improve standards, tools, and operating cadence for project delivery.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Industrial, Petroleum, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.\n\n8+ years of experience in power plant systems engineering and/or leading engineering on large power or process-industry projects with significant EPC or Owner’s Engineer interaction.\n\nExtensive knowledge of steam cycles and power conversion systems; strong understanding of steam turbine plants and major BOP systems.\n\nStrong stakeholder management and communication skills; willingness to travel up to ~25% to sites and suppliers.\n\nExperience managing engineering teams across multiple disciplines, including leading both internal engineers and external contractors/EPC partners.\n\nBackground in a hard-tech startup taking complex systems from 0→1 (concept to first deployment).\n\nEngineering leadership in oil & gas, petrochemicals, refining, LNG, or conventional power generation environments with high rigor around safety, codes, and execution.","description_format":"text","description_chars":2984,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":8,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"},{"name":"Morocco","iso":"MA","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-11T15:06:41Z"}],"liveness":{"score":6,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.219,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":225,"expected_fill_days":24,"reasons":["conf:0","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-09-23T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/alvaenergy-engineering-director-steam-turbine-plant","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/alvaenergy-engineering-director-steam-turbine-plant.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-23T21:04:03Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers"}}
