The role requires a blend of database engineering, performance optimization, production support, and high-availability design. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience reviewing database code, troubleshooting production incidents, and partnering with development and architecture teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and highly available database solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases supporting \nCollaborate with Architecture and Development teams to design scalable data-tier solutions, including database schemas, data distribution, reporting, and analytics.\nReview and govern SQL code quality, including T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, deployment scripts, and database design patterns.\nManage and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and other performance-enhancement techniques.\nEnsure high availability, resilience, and fault tolerance through implementation and management of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.\nTroubleshoot and resolve production database issues, including blocking, deadlocks, slow-running queries, job failures, and database performance bottlenecks.\nDevelop and maintain SQL Server Agent Jobs, ensuring proper scheduling, monitoring, and operational support.\nSupport data integration processes using SSIS and Azure Data Factory (ADF).\nUpgrade, patch, and maintain SQL Server environments while monitoring overall database health using tools such as DPA and Extended Events.\nPartner with TechOps teams in defining database standards, governance, capacity planning, cost optimization, backup strategies, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity planning.\nProvide technical guidance to application development teams on database design best practices and performance optimization.\nPerform root cause analysis and provide escalation support for critical production incidents.\nRequired Skills & Experience\nMust Have\n6-8+ years of strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server.\nStrong SQL Server development expertise with advanced T-SQL knowledge.\nExtensive experience in reviewing and optimizing SQL code, stored procedures, and database deployment scripts.\nStrong understanding of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups (AG).\nHands-on experience with production support and troubleshooting: Blocking and deadlocks Query performance issues SQL Agent job failures Database performance bottlenecks\nExpertise in query optimization, execution plan analysis, and indexing strategies.\nExperience creating, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting SQL Server Agent Jobs.\nStrong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies.\nGood to Have\nExperience with SSIS package development and maintenance.\nExposure to Azure Data Factory (ADF).\nBasic knowledge of SSRS Reporting Services.\nExperience working with cloud-based database environments.\nFamiliarity with NoSQL databases.\nExperience working in SAFe Agile environments.\nExposure to Azure DevOps/TFS for incident, change, and work item management.\nPreferred Candidate Profile\nStrong database engineering mindset with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.\nProven ability to review and improve database code quality.\nHands-on experience supporting highly available production environments.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform detailed root-cause analysis.\nExcellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills across Architecture, Development, SRE, and Operations teams.\nDiversity & Inclusion\nAmadeus aspires to be a leader in Diversity and Inclusion in the tech industry, enabling every employee to reach their full potential by fostering a culture of belonging and fair treatment, attracting the best talent from all backgrounds, and as a role model for an inclusive employee experience.\nAmadeus is an equal opportunity employer and committed to an accessible recruitment process.
