This is an opportunity to contribute to a hands-on engineering function with meaningful ownership, supporting both the underlying platform and the operational needs that keep the datacenter running smoothly.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, build, and operate the on-prem network infrastructure underpinning our cloud-like environment\nOwn VLAN design, routing, firewall policy, and load balancer configuration across the datacenter\nManage network segmentation and access control in support of security and compliance needs\nBuild and maintain configuration-as-code for network devices and infrastructure using Ansible (and Terraform/Terragrunt where applicable)\nCollaborate closely with the infrastructure/DevSecOps engineer(s) on shared tooling, monitoring, and automation\nSupport and monitor network health using Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager\nTroubleshoot network issues across routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing\nProvide general datacenter support for customers co-located in the HostMax datacenter - things like cabling, hardware swaps, rack/stack work, and basic troubleshooting\nParticipate in business-hours (M-F) on-call rotation for customer and network support\nParticipate in an SDLC/Scrum-based workflow, using Jira and Confluence for planning and documentation\nHelp define network standards, runbooks, and best practices as the team and topology grow\nTake on increasing ownership of network architecture and scope as the team matures and responsibilities shift from the infra engineer(s) to this role\nRequirements\nSolid working knowledge of networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, firewalls, and load balancers\nHands-on experience with configuration-as-code for infrastructure using Ansible\nExposure to on-prem/datacenter network operations\nProficiency with Git and standard version control workflows\nWillingness to do hands-on datacenter/hardware work (cabling, rack/stack, hardware troubleshooting) in addition to network engineering\nPrior colocation/datacenter smart-hands experience\nNice to Have:\nExperience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and how networking applies within them\nExperience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager (or equivalent monitoring stacks)\nFamiliarity with HashiCorp tooling (Vault, Boundary) as it relates to network access and secrets\nFamiliarity with Keycloak or other identity/access management platforms\nNetworking certifications (e.g., CCNA or equivalent) or formal networking coursework\nFamiliarity with Scrum, SDLC practices, and tools like Jira/Confluence (admin experience a plus)\nExperience with Terraform/Terragrunt\nPrior experience joining or building an infrastructure/network team from scratch\nBenefits\nMedical Insurance\nDental Insurance\nVision Insurance\n401(k)\nFlexible spending account\nCommuter benefits\nDisability insurance\nThe annual salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $150,000.
